Day 2

So, I’m back at day 2. I smoked on Saturday.

But you know what? I don’t care. lol As a friend said to me – relapse is part of recovery. I had fun and I don’t regret it. I think it actually helped confirm for me that I don’t want to smoke anymore. It was nasty. lol

Yesterday I went right back to not smoking – and I didn’t even put my patch on. Granted – I was hungover and sleeping most of the day. But I almost forgot to put my patch on this morning. I’m not thinking about it nearly as much as last week even.

I think this time it’s going to stick!

My Top 2 Tips of the Day:

1. Do not put yourself in situations where people are smoking.

2. You have to think like a recovering alcoholic: you can never have a cigarette again; one is too many.

You can do this, Carrie! Hell, if I could, anyone can!

This was a special circumstance. I have no social obligations in the next few months like it that I can't avoid, so I won't be in that position again.

I'm confident! More confident than I've ever felt about it in the past.

fyi carrie you cannot quit cold turkey. you'll never quit doing it that way

just gradually cut down on the amount you smoke in a day week.
it will probably take about 3-4 months.
but its the best way imo. its less stress and disappointment on your person.

Gradually going down is much, much harder than having a quit day and sticking to it. At least, I've never been able to do that in my 16 years of smoking.
And I'm not really cold turkey, I'm using nicotine still by way of the patch.

My mom smoked from age 14 until she was 40. She quit cold turkey. She attempted a few times then it finally stuck.
My aunt did it the same way about 10 yrs after my mom.
It is about your will, drive and determination.

A dear friend of mine has been trying to quit using the taper down method, that has been going on for a few years. She has not had any success quiting.
