Why are sports people so incredibly dull?

Ive watched many interviews with different sports people over the years from footballers to swimmers, and one thing they all have in common is having zero personality. I mean whats going on? Obviously there are exceptions to the rule like George Best who was more into hanging out with the arts and music crowd of the 60s.

The overwhelming majority of people from any area of life will probably come across as boring if interviewed, especially if you have little interest in the topics being discussed. That, plus the interviewer holds some responsibility for how the interview proceeds. I've seen some really good interviews that were mainly good due to the person doing the interview posing intruiging questions, showing personality themselves, and showing they had a lot of knowledge in the subject at hand.

Because they're not supposed to be interesting, they're supposed to be athletes.

So what sports do you play ?

How long have you been an athlete ?

What do you think sports people could do to improve your perception of being boring ?

Because you're a douche bag. It's a reciprocal relationship.

Stop being a douche and they'll be more interesting.

why am i about to offer a serious answer on a rolling thread?

because i'm an idiot who answers his own questions, just like this. duh.

ANYTROLLIE,

i think sports people are boring because they are forced to be focused on one goal, which is whatever sports thing it is that they are obsessed with winning. this means that they cannot take time out to ponder existentialist lyrics or complex freeform electronica, nor do they have the time or energy to spare for figuring out post-modern literature, modern art or independent cinema. these things burn up precious focus that needs to be spent going for the gold and giving till it hurts. this means sports people are boring, but michael phelps is drowning in gold medals and a-list genitalia right now and we're not. but i don't have donkeyface, so that's some small consolation.
