Every one of those photographs - both dos and don'ts (with the possible exception of the woman in the white jeans/black top) - is representative of what Tim Gunn not-so-lovingly refers to as "the slobbification of America."

yep, after the 50's during the 60's it seems everyone started not to care about their appearance in public, let alone in thier homes.
40's in america was the best time for people looking sharp in public no matter what the occasion was.

and they had cloths to wear inside their home. house coats house shoes etc.
