After bassdame and I made a music video with Robin Power, we went to see the premier of "Graffiti Bridge." Someone we know - a big Prince fan - walked out of the theater looking very disappointed and embarassed. We decided to proceed with our project with Robin for the adventure if not anything else. lol

I've never had the privilege of walking out on a movie, but "The Sheltering Sky" nearly made my head fall off of my own neck from tying to stay awake through it.

...and this from a woman who spent her younger years loving John Malkovich to no end lol

Boyz in the Hood? Hell, nah! That was a GREAT movie! "Domino, mf'er!" Well, it probably depends when you saw it first. That movie was on steady rotation in our neighborhood for several years.

Early part of 2005 is when I saw it. Did. Not. Like.

Truth be told, I don't remember a whole lot about it. I just remember being extremely uncomfortable with how women in that movie were treated. That scene where buddy hits his girl, then tries to calm her down by eating her out? Made me literally feel ill.

Believe me, I'm not one for a man hitting a woman, but in that scene, she was repeatedly hitting him. I know it's only a movie, but no one should put their hands on another person without suffering the consequences.

The idea, folks, is not to walk out of classics. You walk out of bad movies or racist or sexist filth, like Romper Stomper or Fatal Attraction. I like the Forest Gump one. The single most evil American film ever.

Walked out of Alone in the Dark. Tara Reid should be shot for lying and Christian Slater should have been shot for starring. It's a shame when the game is better than the movie. disbelief

I didn't walk out, but watched several folks walk out holding their stomachs when Evil Dead first came out. My male friend left. I was laughing. lol

Edited to add Borat. I tried...I really tried...was.not.funny.to.me. confused

The game's always better than the movie. Ex: House of the Dead 1 & 2 and Doom. Those were beyond terrible....right up there with Alone in the Dark. Funny, the same director for Alone in the Dark is the same one who directed House of the Dead. Yeah, video game movies are destined to suck. lol

I wanted to leave the theatre of Minority Report - but that was during 1 of the P celebrations and since he paid for all of us - I stayed. He even commented on how bad it was the next nite at the concert.

She was doing those stupid little girly swats, and gets a full blown hit back in return, then dude forcibly picks her up and carries her to the room and undresses her against her will. Not even on the same level. disbelief

Anyways, it wasn't just that scene. The whole movie treated women like shit. It gave a very lighthanded approach to the whole matter, and I didn't care for it. Why should I, a female, sit through 2 hours of watching men treat women like dirt, and be expected to come away from the experience enjoying it?

The movie was garbage.

Baby Boy made me uncomfortable as well. Although I quite liked the mother in the movie and her kick ass garden, everyone else rubbed me the wrong way.

i especially didn't like how the girl went back to Tyrese's character and then in the end they show that she's pregnant and engaged to that jerk. As if that's really going to change anything.

I found that movie to be downright depressing.

Boyz in the Hood is a great movie. Not exactly an uplifing holiday classic by any means but still a very good and, imo, important movie.

i can see where someone may not like it or may be disturbed by it, though.

nod co-sign

It's rare for me not to find something good in a movie I've sat all the way through. But there's just nothing worthwhile in this. The whole thing made me uncomfortable, and not in that intriguing, thought-provoking way some movies have.

Nope.

But I've been at movies that others have walked out on.

Two that come to mind are:

In the Bedroom and Shadow of the Vampire.

I enjoyed them both.

Both those movies were excellent. Why would someone walk out on them?

I've never walked out on any movie, but two that I watched on cable and thought were the biggest wastes of time ever were The Doom Generation and Nowhere. Gregg Araki fooled me twice. Shame on me.
