Selling my music images. Any ideas? Pics included.

Hi all,

I have been painting for a while now. I generally create portraits of musical artists. Doesn't really matter who... some i like, some i just did for friends/their children/etc...

I tend to keep my originals but i have sometimes had them made up into limited prints. I was wondering what your opinions/suggestions are in regard to maybe selling limited edition prints. Any suggestions on where to sell? It would only be a secondary income so im not after making millions. however, a very high quality limited edition print would be limited to around 50 copies.

any suggestions or advice on any aspect of this would be appreciated. I just like to get my paint on!

Please feel free to look at some of my examples. Not the greatest photos

please respect my copywrite.

Thankyou. yes, all originals. Can't seem to find a market though.. well one to make it worthwhile having them printed up. I watch ebay from time to time and the majoity of artwork on there just goes without a single bid.

That's a shame really. You have got quite a talent there.

Good luck!

You did? cheers. She looked pretty cool back then. i did that one for a friends mother as a birthday gift. I took some of tem down and resized them. I was worried that the size was too big and the image quality (of photograph) was too good. so i took a few down and resized them. Its a shame because you lose an awful lot of the image when you reduce it to that size but i guess thats my point.

yes, sir. lol

That's the problem though. If i want to sell my work (which i now do) i have to create something which i can sell. I would need to genertae orders more than one to make it worthwhile. It can take me upto 3 weeks to finish a piece. I have sold originals in the past from between £350 to £500. But when you consider it has taken me the best part of a month to create then that amount seems quite small. However, to the average buyer, its a hefty price to pay.

The compromise i have decided to make is to release my work as signed and numbered limited edition prints/canvases. Limited to no more than 50 - 250 worldwide. These can then be sold for a more "reasonable" sum to most customers for around £35 for a print to nearer £65 for a canvas. Making it more obtainable to the consumer and retaining its investment potential. I would sell an original if the demand was there.

Soooo, if you would like that original piece of david bowie then just hook me up with your credit card details anx lol

I would put all my existing prints up on a website if i had a clue how to. I have many pieces - musicians - actors - abstract work.

i'll have to look into it.
