true enough.

greenwich village was the coolest place ever to live, pre-guiliani administration. some people will probably go even further back than that.

now? i guess it's a decent place to visit. you can see traces of the place it used to be if you look hard enough. but really, these days it's mostly just got the same gaps and starbucks as any other city. sigh

The west village is, but since the re-did the pier on the westside, you get a mixture of everybody...

Question, though: What's the "new" Greenwich Village in the NYC area? Where do all the starving artists and up-and-coming literati live now? Please tell me it's not Jersey. lol

Jersey gets love. Without the Garden State, there would be no Sopranos... Bon Jovi... Bruce Spingsteen... Sinatra... Whitney Houston...

If you do go to the Village these days, one place that's my vice is Magnolia Bakery over on Bleecker.

I'm one of those people who's stood in line a few, ten or so times. boxed

Sounds like our Pancake Pantry. The line is equally common here.
