Def Comedy Jam Appreciation Thread With Bernie Mac's passing, I've been watching his clips from Def Comedy Jam and also peeping some other Def Jam classics. This show debuted in either '91 or '92 (I've seen both listed on the web and I can't remember I was too young) and featured some great (at the time) up and coming comedians or comedians who just haven't gotten the right exposure.
Which were some of your favorite performances from this HBO series? PS. The first breakout start from Def Comedy Jam wasn't either of the Kings of Comedy, Chris Tucker, Eddie Griffin, ect it was actually Bill Bellamy. PRINCE: Always and Forever

"When Martin was still funny." It's like he took and turn from comedy. He's not that funny anymore. Chris Tucker is crazy funny. He's serious in person but when you look at him, you just want to laugh. I've met him 2 times and each time, I laughed when he talked. He's a trip. He said to me..."Don't I know you? What's up, man?" Then he goes into that voice, "I said what's up, man?" We'd shake hands. I just want to fall out laughing. Okay,, let me snap out of the Chris Tucker envy. .

Remember when Gary Owen won? He's still funny We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou
