In all seriousness, I've noticed the iceskaters during the winter Olympics also have a shit ton of god awful make up on. I think it's because they anticipate the lighting to be different than it really is.

These excuse are not acceptable so far.

Anyone else want to try and explain it?

Seriously, I'm watching these girls and their shitty makeup is actually pissing me off!

They're professionals at gymnastics and probably spend 23/7 practicing.

When the time comes to do something as basic as make up they have no idea what they're doing.

Either that or the OTT look has just become a weird tradition. Like the stupid dance moves the women have to do in their floor routines.

plus the lighting we see them under isn't the best. my makeup looks different in different types of light so the same is probably the same for them. most people aren't trained how to apply makeup for tv or movies.

Really it's the whole thing with being on stage. If you've ever seen a performer close up, that shit is caked on, but it looks normal out in the audience.

People haven't adjusted to HDTV yet either. Otherwise why would Andrea Kramer be allowed near the camera?

A girl who won the Gold in a floor routine the other day actually LOOKED her age, around 18-20. But yeah, the 16 year olds that look about 7 freak me out. That's probably why they put SO much makeup on.
