Basquiat Has anyone else seen this film:
Its about this guy below jean michel basquiat a famous new york artist in the 80s who died from heroin sadly. David bowies great in the film as andy warhol and Jeffrey Wright is superb as basquiat its a sad story but a great film. [Edited 8/20/08 8:27am] LET A WOMAN BE A WOMAN AND A MAN BE A MAN

you forgot the S in Basquait. i'm sure i won't be the only one to point this out to you.
anyways, loved the movie! i wasn't feeling it during the first half and stopped it and came back to the second part (the part where he's in the limo after his gallery night) after getting smashed and loved it!

loved it. Love jeffery wright too, any info on how he is after that incident down in louisiana? We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

ya damn skippy! man, this movie was incredible. yes. but if you want the REAL basquiat, watch Downtown81 (aka New York Beat) you won't understand it, but that's alright. but yeah, Basquiat was a nice film... I'm sure a lot of it was fictional though (the random affair with Big Pink (aka Madonna, played by courtney love?) ) i really enjoyed it, i was shown it in class in my first year of university. I've never been the same since. [...i think i can, i think i can, i think i can...]

ya damn skippy! (aka Madonna, played by courtney love?) ) I thought that was courtney love playing herself because in the film after basquiat meets her he starts taking heroin. LET A WOMAN BE A WOMAN AND A MAN BE A MAN

My favourite scene in the film is after basquiat finds out that andy warhol has died and he goes to try and get his mother out of the mental institution that shes held in, but the guard wont let him in the pain on his face is immense great acting. Then it cuts to him staggering down the street in his pjs and cloggs of his tits on heroin really powerful stuff especially with that strange bowie track playing in the background. Ill try and find the scene on youtube. [Edited 8/20/08 8:37am] LET A WOMAN BE A WOMAN AND A MAN BE A MAN
