I'd never say never, but I'm almost certain the answer would be no. It's not that I have any problem whatsoever with two healthy, loving, capable and resourceful women raising a child. Rather, I'm sensitive to turmoil in the world and inviting another soul to endure it. Many would-be adopted children could benefit from their competent parentage.

I would but I would have to be a part of the child's life.

That's funny because I think of being a surrogate parent but don't want to be part of the child's life.

This is virtually how I feel about it, you only have to look at how messed up some people become in later life because they didnt have either a mother or father figure.

then again you have to look at how fucked up other people are because they did have mother and father figures

then it makes your statement meaningless and a simply a thinly disguised backhand at the gay community, which is your typical MO when creating a thread.

I'd like to point out I don't attach same-sex parentage with an absence of a suitable opposite-sex role model. In a functioning family, decent models of both sexes abound by way of extended family, friends and the greater community.

My apprehension with the issue has nothing to do with same-sex parentage. Rather, I observe that the world is a screwed-up place, and I wouldn't easily invite another soul into even the most mainstream ideal of a family when there are so many children already here who could benefit from loving parents by way of adoption.

i think i would leave it to the parents. if the child wanted to know about me, i would want it to be the child's right to contact me and include me in his/her life to whatever extent seems appropriate. also, if the parents wanted to include me in the family as a "godfather" or an "uncle" figure, i would be flattered. but that's only if the couple in question were people i knew. otherwise, i don't know if i'd be as interested in playing an active part, though i'd want the child to be able to contact me when they're old enough that such matters are important. but i don't think i'd take part in something like this for a couple i didn't know.

Never. I could not be my own child's uncle and I would have to be the primary parent and have custody of any child I have. That won't go over too well with a couple wanting to parent their own child lol
