Good work Carrie.

Just remember the videos that Dan has made and how ridiculous he looks smoking.
Let them image enter your head every time you think of smoking.

Thanks. That actually helps. I can't help but laugh. lol

I know that if you use logic and reason it makes no sense because you were hot in your pic with the wet hair and the cig but that was because it was you, had nothing to do with the smoking part.
It sounds like you have the will and desire to stop.

For me it would be the issue of money that would help me stop.
Best wishes!

Carrie, I wish you all the best in your effort to quit smoking.....but if you ask me, you need to stop counting the hours, it is no use. As long as you keep counting, it means that smoking still occupies your mind & habit....you'll light one up before you'll know it!

At some point I'll stop counting. But I can't help but do it right now. lol It's where my mind goes. I can't control my thoughts around it yet. But that's going to get better.

It's only been a day and a half. I'm confortable with still being scared and anxious and all of that right now. They tell alcoholics "one day at a time". Right now i'ts sometimes a couple minutes at a time. But that part will get better.

I once had a video of this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_Carr

He actually encourages you to think about cigarettes when you're trying to stop, not to "not" think about them.

Worth checking out? Loads of material available. shrug

It's hard to get out of the habit, but I found the feeling better part happened right away. The hard part of quitting is not really understanding why I wanted to smoke at all--but wanting it all the same.

But it's really easy once you break the routine.

it might not seem like it right now, but i promise you that if you can go one week without smoking that annoying 'habit memory' will stop nagging you. you'll find that entire hours go by when you don't think about smoking, and then entire days... weeks... hug rose

ps: for the first months you should save the money you would have spent on cigarettes and treat yourself with it. just my 2c

CONGRATS! I NEED to do this soon as well. What's messed up is that while I am work, I barely think about it and can go all day without having one (I'll have one to start the day) and once I'm off, I'll light up like no tomorrow.

I stopped smoking 8.5 years ago, and I still have cravings every now and then. But the longer you go without smoking, the more you start to think about what is driving you to smoke. The excuses the mind will come up with, just to try and silence the pleasure receptors in your body, which are screaming for what they want.

You're drinking water, which is good for beginning your body's detoxification. It takes about two years for your body to recover from 90% of the effects of nicotine addition, but some people never recover.

However, if you're pursuing any kind of artistic endeavor whatsoever, you will find that since you've stopped smoking, your brain is now getting all the oxygen it needs, and you will be surprised at how much more inspired you feel. Once I stopped smoking, the floodgates opened for me, and that was when my real writing career began.

The phrase "I quit smoking" is itself one of the things that makes people light up after. In our society today, to quit is not an option, so when you think about it like "I quit", your mind takes this as a defeat. Instead, try "I stopped smoking."

Congratulations, and blessings to you to continue on the path you have started.

Seriously dude, what's your problem? Did your mother drop you on the head too many times? You do a video that would put Brigette Jones to shame, then say, "you're one of my favorite people."
