Thanks for the well wishes and support!

Today has had a rocky start. hrmph

I woke up feeling really good. woot! Got ready for work, slapped my patch on and was ready for the day.
Then when I got to work after my hour-long commute on two busses, I realized my patch has fallen off. omfg I’d only put it on an hour or so before. I have NOTHING. And no way to get home and get something cause the first bus doesn't leave this godforsaken building in the suburbs till 3:30pm!!!!!

It’s not so much that I was worried about smoking again (or not being able to quit or whatever) as I was about not being able to handle today without doing SOMEthing. Nicotine withdrawal makes me incredibly emotional. I can’t be emotional at work. I was sitting here with tears streaming down my face. And while I’m trying to eat my breakfast of yogurt and Kashi go lean crunch.

I practically looked like this guy:

Then a friend on email reminded me, I could ask a coworker to drive me somewhere to get something. And there’s a Target nearby. And I discovered a nicotine lozenge in my purse, leftover from the last time I traveled. (I carry them so I don’t freak out from withdrawal when I take long airplane rides. I think just knowing they’re there is the key, as I almost never use them.) o I popped a lozenge and found someone who can take me later.

Whew.

Crisis averted today.

Well done! smile

I'm off them 5 weeks now - went cold turkey this time - was on 20 Marlboro a day.

It's a real pain in the ass but it gets easier. Keep up the good work!

Carrie, I wish you all the best in your effort to quit smoking.....but if you ask me, you need to stop counting the hours, it is no use. As long as you keep counting, it means that smoking still occupies your mind & habit....you'll light one up before you'll know it!

Good luck Carrie. I'm sure it must be very hard...I guess just do your best to get through one day at a time and before you know it the days will be months and years! smile

At some point I'll stop counting. But I can't help but do it right now. lol It's where my mind goes. I can't control my thoughts around it yet. But that's going to get better.

It's only been a day and a half. I'm confortable with still being scared and anxious and all of that right now. They tell alcoholics "one day at a time". Right now i'ts sometimes a couple minutes at a time. But that part will get better.

With the money you're saving from not buying cigarettes you can buy me an iPhone smile

Now isn't that a good incentive?

Good work Carrie.

Just remember the videos that Dan has made and how ridiculous he looks smoking.
Let them image enter your head every time you think of smoking.
