As bad as the prices are they need to be more expensive! Thats right more expensive! Think about it this way, petrol isn't a renewable source of energy and one day we WILL run out of it. If prices were more expensive people would realize this and not go gas guzzling just for the sake of it.
I mean theres nothing worse than seeing some soccer mum in a 4 wheel drive that doesn't have a speck of dirt on it and only drives around the city with it and then complains that it costs too much on petrol and that it should be cheaper

One parent told me they HAD to get a minivan because of the child safety seat regulations. I don't get it. Does anyone know what he was talking about? No, wait - you're right. If you completely destroy the economy, it will reduce energy usage. If people don't have jobs, they won't have to gas up their vehicles to get to work. They won't have money to buy food...but food'll be too expensive for average folks, anyway. We all need energy to get around, heat our homes and even put food on the table. And higher energy prices hurt lower-income people first and most. Instead of punishing people for using energy, why not give them incentives to save it? Why not encourage companies a financial incentive to explore and develop alternative energy sources? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. | |
