Redheads. Going bright red...?

I'm thinking about making a drastic change with my hair. I want something like this colour.

But I've never been THAT red before. Is it really difficult to maintain? Will I have to have this lion's mane done every couple of weeks because it fades so much?

I go bright bright red a lot. With my hair, my stylist does have to bring the color up, so she turns it blond. Then she puts in the red.

It is amazing. Red does wash out quick, but if you use a sulfite free shampoo, it will last longer. I also don't wash my hair everyday. About twice a week.
I reccomend using Kenra. They have a sulfite free line that really helps the color to last longer.

Since I had my curls relaxed I cant put a color in for four weeks. It's driving me nuts. My hair looks so...regular.

Use Kenra, it will save your investment.

So, you pretty much need to bleach first to get a good result?

I don't think my hair can handle that. It's very long and thick, bleaching the whole thing would be a disaster I think. sad

That's a nice colour...but I'm really kinda fascinated with that bright, vivid red hair.

Or maybe I am heading into a mid life crisis or something.

I used to do a dark auburn or sometimes burgundy color on my hair - it did fade quite a bit as time went on, but I could pretty much get away with having it colored about every six weeks.

Oh, another question.

My roots are almost 100% grey. Will this cause touch ups to be pink?

I have light brown hair, and red has usually looked pretty vibrant over it... not quite cherry red, but still.. I think it will still look greta over a dark hair colour.... it'll come out under lights and in the sun.. pretty
