I'm so sorry to hear that you had to put Fred to sleep. I've had to do that with several cats already, and it is never easy. But I know he had a very good life with you, and 17 years is pretty darn good. You did the right thing by not letting him suffer.

Sorry for your loss I have had to put a few pets time in my time and it is never easy!!! But he is at the Rainbow Bridge now where he will have everlasting life!!!

Its always hard to make that decision but know that he is not suffering.

I'm sorry baby Lost a million cats, it seems. Never easy. You had him for quite a long time though. Lucky cat!

One last Fred story...

I was thinking about him a lot today because of the storm. We're off from work because of tropical storm Fay and I remember how we always knew a storm was coming because Fred would walk around in circles and meow for hours.

Anyway, during a hurricane they advise you to fill your bathub with water to use in case you lose power. For some reason our Freddy used to love sleeping in the tub and he didn't know I had filled it up for the storm. When we heard this huge splash, we ran into the bathroom to find him soaking wet and mad as hell! Anyone who knows how most cats hate water can imagine how funny it was...we couldn't stop laughing.

He let my son dry him off before he stalked away in a huff and didn't speak to us for the rest of the day.
