That shit is crack and not only will it put weight on you...It will swell your hands and feet.

It's addictive. I love it.

But that shit will slow down your blood flow in a matter of days.

My hands and feet swell up after a weekend of eating it.

.

Swell up your hands and feet??? eek

Well I guess you just cured me of my desire to go out and buy some bacon today, for REAL lol

Yup..yup. It will do that quite quickly. It takes a day or so without eating it for things to go back to normal. You can't eat this shit too much.

There's a typical Honduran dish of "Yucca con Chicharrón" that includes "repollo" (that's a dill cabbage slaw to you anglos") that I've been craving for the past 20 years!!!!

My consideration of menudo is a soup w/ tripe and white hominy. At least that's what my mama says it is when she makes it and mi abuelita when she made it and how it comes when we order it from restaurants. smile Mmmm... Menudo con cilantro, cebolla y limon! Oh! And a corn tortilla w/ butter to dunk. Mmmm... My favorite winter and hangover food. drool

To me, (and the rest of Honduras) tripe is "Mondongo".
To my wife, (and the rest of Puerto Rico) tripe is "Pansa".

Ropa Vieja, to me, is this;

Shredded beef gizado.

I started this thread because I was being a total fat azz and blowing my points by eating that damn crack/bacon all day.

Now we have gone on a Latin American dish recipe swap, to a husband analysis, to a pigs ass.

And I'm still a fat ass for eating all that SHIT!

Ahhhh... that makes sense. I think Mondongo sopa has more ingredients than menudo. When the tripe is in the soup, it's menudo. I think when it's on it's own, it's tripas. I'm not sure. My background is native american/mexican so that's our version. Filipinos call it the same as the Mexicans too. We call the tripe in the menudo the pansitas. hehe

That ropa vieja looks pretty tasty and it's my dinnertime! All this talk of food has got me HUNGRY!!!!! hehehe biggrin

I'll admit it. I once ate a pound of Bacon.

It takes so long to cook, I'd munch on what was done while I was cooking more, then before I knew it, I had no more bacon.

That was a good day.

Once you cook it, it goes from being a pound to a quarter pound anyways. lol

You remember the story about the guy who was like 106 years old? He was asked what his diet was, his secret to longevity?

He ate bread fried in fatback and a quart of wine every day.

I think I remember something like that. He was on the Italian country side and he basically ate bread, cheese, and wine. And it was all produced on his farm, so he ate his own veggies n stuff too.

I have been seriously working out twice daily since this bacon accident.

The other night, my extended family had its semi-weekly get together, and somehow the topic of bacon came up. I mentioned to my mom that I never really liked bacon all that much. I'll eat it, but it's not something I seek out.

She said, "Oh, you always were our sausage boy."

I didn't say anything. But I was cracking up on the inside.
