Have You Ever Been Shopping In A Store....

and another shopper in the same store mistakes you for an employee, and approaches you, asking where they can find a specific item? lol This happened to me again today. I went to the grocery store to get a few items, and this kid mistook me for a store employee. He asked me which aisle the shampoo was in. The first time he asked me that, I tried ignoring him, but he asked me again. I had to tell him, "I don't work here". falloff This has happened to me on several occasions, and it cracks me up. Has this ever happened to you?
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

If I know where something is I'll totally direct them. I might even give my twocents on what to buy. Now if I don't know where it is and they give me this attitude, I say "bitch, I don't work here.". And if I'm wearing something, like say, a tank top and flip flops I will respond with the ever so snotty "Does it look like I work here?"

Happens regularly and depending on the person and the manner in which they asked I'm either SUPER-helpful or I send them in the complete opposite direction...

just for kicks... lol

I've made that mistake before.

Then again, sometimes I know they aren't store employees, but I figure that middle-aged looking ladies know better than I do where to find certain products. So I ask them anyway. shrug

It's happened to me quite a bit.
I made the mistake once of thinking that a guy worked at a shoe store I was in and he got SUPER bent out of shape about it. I couldn't believe it. lol

It happens to me often as well. I move through stores with a goal, which people often mistake for 'he belongs here'.

Last time it happened was in an English bookstore, while I was reading part of a book. "Do you work here?" an Italian lady asked me. I said "If I worked here I would have fired my ass for reading during work hours."
The Italian lady then went; "Sto cercando Munt Plein. Non possiamo trovarli, come abbiamo speso troppa erbaccia di fumo di tempo ed ora tutti siamo confusi e SEMBRATE italiano, in modo da DOVETE capirli. Vogliamo andare indietro all'hotel ma abbiamo perso il nostro senso!"

I said; I don't speak Italian.

She said; Non state ascoltando! Ho detto che ho voluto i funghi! Voglio i funghi magici! Non scompigli con me; Ho sacrificato il mio piccolo bambino per di meno che un giunto. Don' scopata di t con me! Dove è la moneta quadrata?

I just walked away.

this happens to me all the time. i always just look at them with a really dazed expression and say "oh, i don't work here, you need to find an employee" in my best frightened townsperson voice. i do that because if i sound too confident in my response, the schmucks usually ask me to help them anyway and i have no desire to assist these people in selecting their ludicrous wardrobe atrocities.

Try to rehearse a few words in French and then look weirded out and say; "Pooblic toy-let?"

I can understand that guy being upset because you think he worked there. Take a look at a typical ladies shoe store employee:

On the flip side, if you do work in a store and are asked "Do you work here?"

"No, I like to come in here in my spare time and stack their shelves for nothing."
