I'm OLD. I've realized this. I am.
I worry about money. I worry about retirement. I worry about health. I worry about my house and property. I worry about pollution, overpopulation, and the world around me in general. I just worry. I refuse to re-pierce my ears or nose. I'm starting to like short, conservative hairstyles. I hear public cursing and think it's rude and low class. I find people who are drunk in public silly and sad. I look at my friends who smoke and it now makes me feel concerned for them--I see breeding cancer. When did all this creep up on me?? Last night, I went to the gym and worked out to Beethoven's 9th symphony on my iPod. I'm old.

If that's the criteria for being old, then I'm ancient

As for the worries of the world, that kinda stuff plagued me when I was younger. I mean, I would worry a LOT. And so gosh darned passionately. I thought growing more apathetic made me older. As for the smoking, I have a quit date set again for Monday. I know, I know. But I don't want to hear a word about it from anyone. |

No but my ass does droop down low enough to sweep up after me, so my house floors are immaculately clean now.

Oh damn, that reminds me. I think I started a thread about that this week

the biggest mindfuck of aging (for me anyway) is trying to figure out if certain changes in my world view are coming about because i'm getting older and more fogey-like, or if i'm just changing like i've always been changing throughout my entire life and i'd probably feel the same at 17 years old about something as i would now.
it's a little easier to look at grey hair or notice a new creak in the bones and realize it's because i'm becoming an anxosaurus, but it's not so easy for me to figure out if the things that are popular today are crap because i'm getting old and out of touch with modernity, or if today's crap is just the same as crap from any other year.

I'm the same way with hair. I let my stylist do whatever even though I don't like have the shit he does, just cause I don't want to be THAT guy still wearing the members Only jacket... even though I hear they are coming back in style. It's a fine line. I always think, I don't want to be stuck in a rut like my parents were, but I also don't want to look back and cringe. But then again, don't people always cringe when they look back?

Exactly. I think it's a little of both. When we grew up there was no Tila Tequila to be disgusted by. But there was Full House and that would suck no less today than it did then. My Legacy

Why the hell is there a vocal part to a symphony at the end of Beethoven's 9th anyways? I mean, it's great, but aren't symphonies sans voice?
