I just saw a cat get squished :( I was just walkin' along and this kitty comes outta nowhere, looks right at me, and in my peripheral vision I can see this car coming down the road....I look at the kitty and say no...don't go, wait, and I make that sound we all make to call a cat...but it didn't stop him, he just walk right out in front of that car. I put my hands up over the sides of my face and heard the crunch and said OH NO! There was a mom and her kids cleaning out a mini van right there but they didn't see it or even hear me say anything....
I just kept walking, I didn't want to know the gruesome details, there was nothing I could do. I called animal control. how sad. I was the last thing he saw. ugh! I'm the angel of death. "not a fan" yeah...ok

poor kitty you are not the angel of death. We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

That's awful.
I'll never forget the time my youngest brother came home from school sobbing because he saw a cat get killed by a car. My heart broke for him.

welp...someone from work just called me and said they saw the cat hiding under a car when they went by just a few minutes after it happend... I said thanx for trying to cheer me up but that cats head when under the car's right front tire. he said I'm just telling you what I saw. So I just went up town and asked around and sure enough the folx in town said that someone pulled the cat outta the street, then it got up (bloodied) and ran under a car, they watched it for a while but then it took off into the bushes. I'm really trying to tell myself that by some miracle it survived but in reality I just feel worse cause now I know if probably just suffered longer and went off to die in the bushes. everyone said they thought it was a stray....but still. "not a fan" yeah...ok

Shorty, maybe someone will find it in their yard and take it to a vet...it is possible you know. There is a reason why it didn't die immediately from the accident. Try to think of a more positive result to this...and maybe the noise you made helped the kitty from being struck in a position that would have squished him. That split second that it looked at you,was a second more than it going into the street. Sorry I'm not being more clear. It's a miracle it's still alive now... Don't cry.

thanx. I hope you're right. I've gone through all the scenarios in my head...if I hadn't made the sound...perhaps he'd have gotten into the road soon enough for the driver to see him? perhaps he'd have a chance to turn around? perhaps he'd have gotten even more smooshed! thanx again though. "not a fan" yeah...ok

Awww, that is so sad! I would hate to have to witness something like that, it would really eat me up inside. Heck, I get sad when I see a dead animal in the middle of the road. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

There are too many people who drive too fast and/or are in too much of a hurry. i know! the poor little creatures don't have a chance. we're lucky, here in MN there is a wildlife rehabilitation center that takes in injured animals of all descriptions. it's supported by donations, and seems to do quite well. i brought a baby bird i found on the sidewalk downtown here, it was just standing there on the ground. hopefully, by now little 'chirpie' has been fixed up and returned to the wild via the rehab center's wilderness preserve area. good thing there is such a place for wild, injured animals

I think there's wildlife rehabilitation centers here in Ohio too. Poor little bird, I hope he's okay now, poor thing. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

i ran over a rabbit and a squirrel in the same week last year. That crunch you heard is even louder when you're the one doing the crunching. It's an awful feeling.

living around alot of rural areas, it's a pretty common thing to run over animals here...and it sucks everytime...
I once hit four dogs at once, there was absolutely nothing I could do about it....one of the dogs was in heat and the other three were in love...they darted right out in front of me...shitty...

Sorry for you.
I was traumatised once when I saw one of our kittens get run over. I've never once ran anything over but have come very close to it many times, I even swerve to avoid them, dead or alive.
