I gave my kid a mullet once it made him look up to no good, I swear I treated him differently! i wish there was such a thing as child fashion protective services. they wouldn't take the child away from its parents - they'd just send a beautician social worker over, fix the kid's hair and give the little lamb a nice new outfit. oh, and maybe they'd serve the parent with a fashion citation and a gift certificate to baby H&M or something.

I would rather see a little boy with an earring than to see him with his pants hanging off of his ass like some prisoner. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

One little boy had a big ass cubic zirconia in his ear. His grandmother thinks it's okay! When did this become cute or acceptable? Why is everyone so uptight when a boy does this, but when parents peirce a baby girls ears its okay? IMHO, YOUR not that childs caregiver/guardian either so why make a big deal? People believe in different things, IF...I SAY IF.... the church has a problem with it/this Im sure they will take them to the side and tell them that is unnacceptable. IMHO I think some people should stay out of such things. But IF the church sees no problem, then let it go. Smurf theme song-seriously how many fucking "La Las" can u fit into a dam song

I don't think it's big deal. I know in some cultures it is good luck to have the baby's ears pierced. Something about stuffing them with jewels or being prosperous. My former supervisor was Greek and got her daughter's ears pierced when the baby was really young. I don't know if it's the same for baby boys though.
I always tease my brother that I'm going to take my niece (almost 6) to get hers done when he least expects it. I got my first ear piercings when I was six. I begged and pleaded with my mom to get it done, so it was a birthday gift for me. She made me promise not to cry or she said I couldn't get them pierced. I remember thinking it hurt (but maybe it was more the noise of the piercing gun) and trying very hard not to cry. I guess at that time I wasn't smart enough to figure that she probably wouldn't make me take out the earrings after they were already in my ears.

My nephew was almost 1 when my sister got his ear pierced i totally agree people shouldnt be allowed to pierce kids ears until they are old enough to decide if they want them i went past a shop a few days ago where they did piercings (and sold jewllery etc) and there was a woman in there with a little kid who wanted to get the kids ears pierced and the child who was about 3-4 had her hands over her ears screaming she didnt want them done and kept going no mummy i dont want it and the woman in the shop still was trying to move the kids hands and was saying dont be silly it wont hurt seriously who would pierce that poor kids ears when she was reacting like that not to mention the health and safety aspect i did some work experience at a primary school for a few weeks last year and the number of girls who had the butterflies go back into the ear and they then have to have them pull out one even had hers caught on another kids jumper and it was ripped out she had to go to hospital and have stitches spelling edits [Edited 8/13/08 17:14pm] With Love there is no Death

I don't think anyone should put holes in a child's ears, girl or boy. But once they're old enough to choose and take of them themselves, then all's fair for everyone.

I felt if they wanted piercings, they could make the decision when they were older. Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

In the US, H&M is known as the place to go for cheap, trendy clothes. You can buy tops for $10--they may not last more than a few washings, though (which I guess is fine, b/c by that time the trend is out). I don't go there much b/c they are always too crowded and the racks are a mess, it's too hard to find anything.

That's so strange to me--IKEA is also known for having "afforable/cheap" furniture here. Who knew? I thought NYC was expensive but maybe Sweden is worse!

She put that little gun up to my left ear and I immediately said...."Oh no honey, you are about to pierce the wrong ear. I want only my right ear pierced". These days, it's normal to see young men with earrings on BOTH ears. I credit & blame Jodeci for making it a cool fashion statement.

But it's quite possible H&M in sweden has a different marketing strategy than in the states, the stores certainly don't have any kind of discount feel that I remember IKEA is still cheap over there
