I Saw The Dark Knight [SPOILERS!]

Of course, spoilers ahead. I recommend not reading all of this until you've seen it, but I just had to get it out lol

So there's been MASSIVE hype surrounding this movie and I can tell you - it's worth every little bit.

I was lucky enough to win tickets to the first screening for the general public through a competition on myspace. The competition was pretty basic and there were enough people there to fill the entire cinema.

I really have nothing bad to say about the movie except I've never enjoyed Christian Bale's acting that much, but his wooden talking and movements seem to suit Batman's whole tough guy attitude well so it works. Oh, and Maggie Gyllenhaal was even worse than Katie Holmes lol

SPOILERS

Heath's performance is beyond amazing. His voice....I don't even know how he pulled that off considering how deep his voice was in real life. The maniacal laugh creeped the fuck outta me and his whole aura and attitude is just insane, literally. He's actually REALLY funny, too. You're half creeped out and half laughing your ass off. It's an amazing balance he's created and really, I found myself just waiting for his scenes and getting bored of others because it was just so much fun to watch. Of course, you can't help but feel bad for loving the character that basically killed him. The preparation he went into for this role paid off because he's a true film icon now but of course, he's not with us anymore.

Everyone clapped when his name came up in the credits at the end, which was nice, since its not a custom here to clap like it seems to be in other countries.

A highlight scene for me was one involving a magic trick with a pencil. Seriously, you'll fall outta your seat when you see this one. eek

The special effects are possibly the most realistic I've ever seen and the high speed chases are edge of your seat material. The batpod....lets just say....I WANT ONE!

The script is a decent balance of funny/drama and the plot moves along nicely.

Two Faces, er, Two Face was done very well too, it hardly looked like CGI at all. Harvey Dent is in the whole movie, but Two Face is really only at the end. We have a cameo of "Scarecrow" played by the creepiest looking dude ever, Cillian Murphy. Damn, he scares me . The cameo's really nothing to get excited about but its a small sign of what's to come.

The ending was a little weird...Batman seemed to get on the bad side of the town and is now on the run. I'm not a Batman fan so maybe I was missing something there.

But all in all, those are minor complaints, this was an AMAZING movie and I'll be seeing it again very soon. It's definitely not one you can see once only.

10/10 for sure.

DEFINITELY view it in a theatre, I really don't know how it would be on a smaller screen, nowhere near as gripping that's for sure.

Thanks for your comments! Since I enjoy Christian Bale very much, actually he's one of my fave "young" actors, I guess will not find fault in this movie at all.

BTW, would be great to hear more opinions on this movie here, but can we keep the spoilers to a minimum? Or at least mark spoilers directly?

The NY Daily News gave it FIVE stars - it's called "...twisted, tortured, terrifying and terrific....and no Jack Nicholson as the Joker...bury him - he's dead.....Ledger's take on this iconic creature is mesmerizing".

SWEEEEET!!! This comic-book geek can't wait. This movie will set a new standard for superhero films. Thank you, Chris Nolan.

Saw this yesterday and I thought it was awesome!

Everyone did a good job in it, especially Heath Ledger. It was the perfect portrayal of the joker. I found myself thinking a few times during the movie that it is a shame that the joker could not continue into the next movie.

Excellent movie with a lot of twists, tuns and surprises in it. I recommend everyone go and watch it and see for yourself, before people let you know what happens!!

Will definately be buying this one when it comes out!

Imago

I've now seen this twice. It's the first movie since LOTR Return of the King that I've seen in the theater more than once in it's original release.
