Converting computer files I wonder if I can tap into the extensive wealth of combined knowlege here on the org?
I have downloaded a couple of files from the web (through Vuze) and it turns out that they are .flac and .rar files - I need to convert these into MP3 files so I can put them on my pod, but I have absolutely no idea how to do this (in fact it's a minor miracle that I managed to download the files in the first place!) Can someone please point me in the right direction - using plain English, coz I'm thick! lol. Cheers I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off

Coolness. 2 different things really: 1. The .rar files are just compressed - download a copy of winrar and it'll bring them back to whatever they were supposed to be. 2: For .flac, I haven't found a nice, free converter yet. If you want to play them on your PC, use VLC media player. For your Ipod, if there aren't too many, I'd burn the tracks to a CD using Burrrn and then rip them back using Itunes or whatever you usually use. These are all free programs: Winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm VLC Media Player: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Burrrn: http://www.burrrn.net/?page_id=6 (And the Dublin concert was GREAT - youu really missed out ![]() *Stupidity edit - was just speaking to a Japanese friend. Kelly and Kerry sound the same in Japanese* [Edited 8/7/08 10:49am]

Ah. See... I've started already! Which winrar do I download? There's HUNDREDS of 'em!
I'm guessing it's the top one? Am I right? I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off

I'm guessing it's the top one? Am I right? Correct - if you're using an ordinary PC with Windows, the top one is fine.
