It didn't help that Miss Jackson cant emote very well either LOL I love the deliberate misquote from Tupacs character:- "frankly my dear I dont give a fuck" I still remember that one. Some nicely shot scenes in that movie though if I remember? I thought she was supposed to come of Snobby Maybe its better for me since Im an actual Janet fan Nah, I still dont like that film much. Sorry LOL. I never dug "menace to society" either though. "Straight outta brooklyn" was about the most depressing movie this side of "the elephant man". I mean very, very bleak. Not gonna bother with that one again. You might like "south central L.A". I think some of it is set in a prison? Quite a nice film though.

What was the film which had that dumb opening where 2 kids are playing basketball on a roof and one accidently dies? I mean, basketball on a roof LOL Thats asking for trouble? I think Marlon Wayans was in it? . [Edited 8/6/08 20:56pm] That was "Above The Rim". nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

I remember thinking "wow, I wonder how tupac is at basketball?", but I dont recall ever seeing him actually play

I still blast the soundtrack to that too sometimes. Tupac had that rare charisma on screen, and even though his loss to the rap game is truly felt, his absence from films is truly felt aswell. I mean, he wasn't just a rapper/musician trying to get into acting. To me, he was the real deal and God knows what he coulda done. I remember Tupac with Mickey Rouke in something? Anyway great actor. Thanx mutha for the good memory LOL.

The ending is kinda crazy if I can remember? Might still have the VHS of that somewhere. Maybe others here like "higher learning"? At least most agree "girl 6" was pretty horrible LOL

And again, for a debut film, its impressive. It seemed to inspire some lesser movies like "menace to society" "south central L.A" "straight outta brooklyn" etc..... ..Infact, "south central L.A" is a film I need to see again. I quite enjoyed that one. "heaven is a playground", anyone remember that one? Obviously a basketball movie, but I cant remember much else LOL Boyz N The Hood was filmed at my high school. I remember ALL of those South Central L.A. films very vividly.

It's basically Rakim doing gangsta rap and he's very adept at it - unbelievable. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

I like Jason's Lyric despite its problems. I even forgive them for that corny ass let's make love soaking wet on top of a cash register scene & Bokeem is always problematic to me, I never understood his appeal, he always seems to be over-acting imo...
The Inkwell is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Sad to see Larenz go from O'Dog to that shit... & yea, I like Menace despite it's problems too There's just too much nostalgia there, but some of it is so hard to watch (basically anything w/ the lead, & Ileana's cousin partna!) Higher Learning blew chunks too. & don't be frontin' on Spike! . [Edited 8/7/08 2:46am]

You like Poetic Justice, enough said The point of the Inkwell was to show that any fine man (Larenz) can look bad if given a shitty braided wig. It also proved that Larenz could play a "special" person, as I'm convinced that character was retarded. Lastly, it proved that in the hands of a bad director, ANYONE can overact. Even the stellar A.J. Johnson.
