ok...so i still feel like the biggest dork in the world for being so caught up in this, but i just responded to an email where a friend asked me "whats goin on" so....
i thought i'd paste this, because i value my relationship with you guys and the things we discuss...i've said it before..ya'll are like a family to me...so here you go...just a lil more insight to how i'm feeling (and how i usually feel in general) and any input would be appreciated, even critisism...just try not to laugh to hard.. man look...
about 2 mins ago Chuck D just told me he liked my music... i know, big deal..but i gave him my demo about a month ago, and by now i had convinced myself (and insisted upon the idea) that he'd thrown my tape in the trash, or even worse, listened to it, then thrown it in the trash... not to mention, i didnt think he'd be coming back in the office.. so anyway, he pretty much shook my hand and said "i listened to it, and i really enjoyed it...most brothas be on that 'i need to get put on'....my point is...aint no put on..it's what are YOU gonna do?" then he gave me his email again and told me to look into itunes... now...he's not the first to say this..not at all...and part of my plan for this new album is and has always been to put it on itunes...i've just been concentrating on quality of product and whatnot.. and even tho i feel like a dork for sayin this...its like my heart jumped when HE said it to me... and its not just that...it's little things...he made a point to come to my desk and talk to me about what i gave him...again, i really had told myself "whatever, he wasnt fuckin wit it. and i wont see him again anyway...thats how demos go"...i mean I EVEN JUST WROTE MY LAST RHYME about record execs lookin me over and sayin "nah.." so, needless to say this is a mind fuck.. i dont believe in coincidences...even further still...my boy nygel (an aspiring A&R/writer, who's knowledge of music and POV i respect) just told me how he felt i still havent topped what i wrote in "Young Sah" where i'm talking about being scared i'll never make it out alive... it just feels like shit is lining up right now.. (i feel like such a dork for being so geeked over this moment, but my heart really did jump) i could cry right now...but thats not why.. all this shit does is remind me how much i block myself, and how i have NO IDEA how to get around...me i guess i ALWAYS feel like i'm losing time.. and who knows...maybe i'm right where i need to be, and closer than i imagine (to success, whatever that is)...i'm so fuckin afraid that....shit, dez..i dont even know...that i wont make it....that i will...that no one cares...that people do care but im not strong enough...i cant even PUT MY FINGER ON IT...and THAT'S why i feel like i could cry. same shit i said in "Young Sah" but how do I "get out?" i have a plan...and it IS in motion, but what if its not FAST enough, what if its not GOOD enough... i dunno.. shits just got me spinnin right now...add on top of that i KNOW i shouldnt give a fuck what ANYBODY thinks, much less Chuck D...but i do... i dunno...maybe this all just sounds like im taking shit too far...i just...REALLY REAALLY want to hit my full potential, but i'm afraid it still wouldnt cut and i'm too fuckin slow but who isnt right? | |
