get a ceramic/resin/polymer gun with the safety built in the trigger. semi-automatic. And they will always shoot no matter what, even if they should get dropped in water. Yes, the Sig Pro I'm looking at is a polymer semi-automatic. It's what the DEA and various international police forces use.

I have a few guns in the house. No children and they are kept in a gun safe. I would recommend the browning hi-power mark 3. Light weight, excellent balance and high powered. Compact enough to conceal and just a solid pistol all around. The thing about carrying a gun is that even though you may be able to hit a target at the firing line. If you dont understand how to protect it someone is going to get it out of your hand and use it on you. Be careful ...

The place where I'm going to take my initial class also offers advanced courses in shooting from a holster and if concealed like in a purse or ankle holster. My primary use is for in-home protection. I also don't have kids. But there've been a rash of home invasions in Dallas and it turns out the ring that was doing this owned a nightclub and they would find victims among the people who valet parked. They were able to find their addresses or sometimes copy the house keys of their key chain and case their homes waiting for a good time to strike.

I'm actually getting a Glock 26 strictly for concealed carrying. The light trigger can be fixed if you so desire. It won't jam more than any other sidearm, just don't use cheap wal-mart ammo!! I love the size of it, perfect for my center console in the car.
FunkMistress is getting a LadySmith Smith and Wesson, probably soon too!

Best advice, do not PURCHASE until you've fired it. This holds true especially for females. Your hands are shaped a little differently than men, so what may look great, can end up being terrible to shoot. It may rub a certain finger, or the kick may be difficult due to forced hand placement. Don't be hasty, find the one that really fits and go with it. Any name brand is good, it's the cheap manufacturers that are just that....cheap.

Ummm...why do you people need to carry weapons with you?
If you keep guns as a hobby or for home protection and they are kept in a safe place at home...I get that. But why carry them around? In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

I seriously don't get this....I like guns, my Dad always had guns...I have even thought about getting one to shoot as a hobby, but thereis no reason for me at all to even think about carrying one around with me. Maybe if I lived in the Wild Wild West, or if I pissed off the wrong people I would...but...jeez....it's like asking to be shot the way I see it. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |
