We've got water and we've got gas Two things you need when a hurricane is coming at you.

Some propane or charcoal for your grill so you can cook what is in fridge and freezer in case power goes out for several days.

All good advice, but the gas is for getting the hell out of here.
The most important thing I have is a series of highly-detailed maps of the every street, avenue, highway and dirt road in Texas. If I have to bug out with 1,000,000 other people, I'll know how to get around all the mayhem. When Rita hit in 2005, we were literally air-lifted out of town. I can't count on that good fortune again.

I lived in Florida for 23 years and luckily only had to some place higher once.
Good luck and stay safe.

Good luck and stay safe. Thanks. Hurricanes are NO fun, are they? No they are not. That year that the three hurricane's that came and Frances was one of them. We had a trip to Colorado planned. We drove out of Florida for vacation before knowing exactly where the storm was going to hit. It was horrible to be so far away and not know what is going on back home. We camped in the middle of no where so I had no way of getting the news except when we were on the road. It is a helpless feeling, my dogs and my house were still there when we go home but our neighbours had to deal with our fridge and freezers because the power was out for 5 days. No fun at all. That is one thing that I do not miss about home.

You don't know if your roof is going to hold or not. You don't know if your windows are going to break or not. You don't know if a tornado is going to knock your house down or not. And there is nowhere you can go in your house to hide from it. A truly helpless feeling.

I'm sooooo glad I don't live in a natural disaster zone anymore. Toronto has earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornados, typhoons, tsunamis, wildfires, alien invasions, political upheavals and mudslides almost everyday 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Thanks, y'all. Although it's heading right for us, it doesn't look to be very strong. So, keep your fingers crossed!
We're heading over to the in-laws later tonight.

We're heading over to the in-laws later tonight. How close to Corpus Christi are you? My brother lives there. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740
