anyone know anything about ADA

was just curious if anyone knew anything about ADA (americans with disabilities act) ...

was thinking of building a building that may have to be "public" and ... worried alittle today about all the stuff i would have to include because of ADA .... a bathroom that is wheelchair accessible .... a drinking fountain ??? etc ... anyone know anything or sites that may tell info on this ???

(i am not against the disablity act thing etc ... i just was bummed about ... needing to put a drinking fountain in etc ... )

You're wise to be concerned about this. There are so many requirements!

If it is a public building you have to have adequate handicap parking...building access....counter access....wide doorways...elevator if there's more than one story...not to mention what you already thought of.

Without these features, it's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Good luck!!

when you say elevator - i cant imagine you would need an elevator if the basement is essentially ... basement ... lol ... but then again ... i kinda thought the drinking fountain was crazy (what ever happend to asking for a glass of water ??? ) ... what i was going to do is essentially build a "waiting room" for clients ... a foyer ... for people to drop off things ... but then when i found out all the stuff i need ... OUCH ... kinda scary . neutral

The ADA is not just for the patrons of a building/business, but also for the employees, so if the basement is going to be used, there's probably ADA regulations regarding it.
