My personal fav was Keaton, but I haven't seen "Dark Knight" yet....
this weekend, for sure.

I'm also looking forward to Ledger's Joker...my thought is it'll be
hard to beat out Nicholson...but it looks as though quite a few of
you prefer Ledger.

Honey

Val Kilmer

He's the only Batman that I can see as Batman with everyone else I've seen...

For example:

Keaton was great with Nicholson, but Keaton would be awful with O'Donnell's Robin. And, Arnold's Mr Freeze would crush Keaton's Batman.

George Clooney's Batman with Devito's Penguin?...Too goofy.

Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman would eat Bale's Batman for lunch, and Bale's Batman would only notice Poison Ivy's Bain of Humanity. Clooney's Batman would notice Poison Ivy too much.

Val's Bruce/Batman would best be polite to Katie Holmes's character.

Heath Ledger's The Joker clapping cry clapping was great with Bale's Batman. But, I can see it played with Kilmer's Batman just as well.

Kilmer's Batman is the only Batman that I can see fit into every Batman movie.

I like Michael Keaton, but he always had a comedic presence that made it hard for me to take him seriously.

The last one was my favorite Batman movie (Batman Begins). But I'll always have a soft spot for Mayor Adam West.

All I can say w/ confidence is that it ain't Clooney falloff & I totally forgot Val Kilmer did it too eek

I agree w/ the takes on Keaton & Bale - Bale is great as the dapper billionaire, but his voice in costume was comedy, not scary at all. Been too long since I've seen Keaton BUT looking @ the above pics there's something about his ruffled face behind that mask. I dunno...

I agree with the Keaton/Batman - Bale/Bruce Wayne sentiment.

In the new movie, Bale's throaty "batman" voice really irked me.

It will always be Keaton and then Kilmer. Bale's voice kills it for me. I can't stand it and it made the 2.5 hours even more unbearable.

Exactlly my thougts, the beggining of the movie i thougt, OK this is gonna be a serious movie, i like the tone, then Bats opens his mouth and i get embarresd, and the serious tone loosens a little.

It was quite a surprise the first time he opened his mouth lol

I almost thought that it was someone elses voice and not Bales...
but they wouldn't do that, or would they? lol

I agree with the Adam West thing. I haven't seen the 'Dark Knight' yet
but so far, my personal favorite Batman (movie wise) is Val Kilmer.
I DO think Michael Keaton was great in his Batman role too. I guess
I'm biased though-because I generally love Val Kilmer and of course,
Jim Carrey (as The Riddler). lol

For live action, I gotta go with Keaton. I liked Kilmer as Bruce Wayne, but not as Batman. The same goes for Bale, but I don't even think he was that good as Bruce. For nostalgia and hilarity's sake, I loved Adam West.
