Who here has seen Death Proof?

I meant the full longer version. Did you think it was too talky? I do think the extra scenes make it more fun. The full lap dance scene is great. haha.

Still think it is a great film. didn't really get its due.

Well, it is kind of a skewed chick flick.

I'd watch going to sleep at night, or if she has her car. haha.

Stuntman Mike: Well, Pam... Which way you going, left or right?
Pam: Right!
Stuntman Mike: Oh, that's too bad...
Pam: Why?
Stuntman Mike: Because it was a fifty fifty shot on wheter you'd be going left or right. You see we're both going left. You could have just as easily been going left, too. And if that was the case... It would have been a while before you started getting scared. But since you're going the other way, I'm afraid you're gonna have to start getting scared... immediately!

that part seemed to amuse me...and the car crash was pretty brutal.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

is this the tarrentino one? If so he really needs to stop making movies if he just puts way too much shit talking in it. 90% of the time it leads to nothing but wasting time

"Death Proof" is pretty good. It pays homage — at least partly — to "Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" (minus the boobage, naturally).

SO WHY IN THE SAM HILL IS TARANTINO PLANNING A FULL-ON REMAKE OF "FASTER PUSSYCAT??!?!?!?!?!?!?"

I've always loved Quentin; in fact, Applekisses' friend Monica is dating him* ... but I damn near spit out my tea when I read that he's in pre-production on an official remake.

*Actually, I'm kidding here. But she's dating a dude who looks ALOT like him. I tease him about it all the time. He still won't tell me what's in the Secret Briefcase! smile smile

I saw it and loved it.
I was fortunate enough to see the whole Grindhouse experience as it was originally meant to be and it was much better than two seperate movies.

i thought it was self-indulgent bordering on self-parody. rosario dawson was my favorite thing about it, but i like her in anything. as for QT, he finally won favor with me when he did the kill bill movies, but when i saw 'death proof' i had to wonder if the KB flicks were just a monumental fluke. and he needs to knock it off with the "pop culture education corner" in his movies. i hate it when he starts preaching about a song or a band that he thinks is so cool and we should all think it's cool too. screw you. write an essay in maxim or something. quit using your movies to show us how cool you are. we're all really impressed, okay? now shut up already and make uma smack down lucy liu some more.

I saw Pulp Fiction in the theater when it came out, before all the hype, and I loved it.

funny enough, I am not! But I don't see a reason to bash him like you did in your previous post.....oh well...
I loved Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, loathed Jackie Brown.....Kill Bill I was fun, part II got boring and I haven't even seen Death Proof. But, in any of his films, you can hardly deny that he's a smart filmmaker with a huge knowledge.
The best script he ever wrote besides PF was True Romance.....which I still consider to be the best QT-movie, eventhough he didn't direct it or star in it.

I liked death proof. It was very 70's camp but that's what intrigued me about it.
America's political system used to be about the "pursuit of happiness." Now more and more of us want to stop chasing it and have it delivered.

no doubt you mean what you said and yes, it's your opinion... clapping no need to address that to me as if I'm some idiot, thanks! I was merely trying to look at it from an artistic point of view. It is easy to bash out of personal opinion because you don't like one's work, it would be rather ignorant to disregard artistic talent just because you don't like it.....see what I mean?

Tarentino's great. He never quite fulfilled his promise (too much weed, maybe?). I think early on he was quite prolific, but I think Pulp Fiction's success intimidated him. He must have been blocked to some extent. Jackie Brown was better the second & third times I watched it, but it was self consciously "serious" and the point of view section was fairly pointless.

But his "this pop song rules" style was something of a revelation in the early 90's. He took dialogue a step forward in terms of the reality of subject matter.

And his ability to construct a brilliant scene was undeniable. Reservoir Dogs may not have amounted to anything as a whole, but it is composed of some of the best scenes of the 90's.

oh, and haven't seen Death Proof.
