Who knew HBO ever had a time when they weren't 24 hours?

This was always my favorite HBO commercial. My brother & I used to hum it at the top of our lungs.

I remember this sign off. This was when HBO was about one of a handful of national cable networks on at the time. I remember when my family first got cable TV, and HBO was one of two national cable networks that we had on our system. (This was even before ESPN and CNN.) The only other cable "networks" we had at the time were the two superstations, WTBS (now TBS) and WGN. We got ESPN and CNN about a year later, and a year and a half after that we got USA, BET, and the Weather Channel. But then we got MTV, which was the bomb back then. Then came Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN, now ABC Family), Nickelodeon, Lifetime, the Disney Channel, and Financial News Network (FNN, which was bought out by CNBC in the early 1990's).

OMG...I remember that. My nephew used to call it the "HBO spaceship"

I remember this, although I recall it not as a sign-off, but rather as the intro shown before the start of a movie.

My uncle had this thing called "On TV", but I didn't see it when I moved out here. Does anyone remember this, and if you do, was it a channel like HBO, or was it more like pay-per-view?
