I had to wear my braced for 6 years and they pulled 16 teeth before getting my braces! they pulled 4 and waited and then when I went back the orthodontist was amazed because they were growing back. They pulled those 4 teeth 4 times before they stopped growing back. I'm half chupacabra lol

shake WTF!!!!! Boy, YOU are definitely special. lol How the hell do teeth grow the fuck back???? omfg Leave it to you to find a way. sigh

My stuff was really minor cuz I just wanted to close the gap and move all my teeth back into the empty spaces. Plus I had a baby tooth that never fell out. However, YOU, my dear are extra spayshul. comfort

I was hoping that the doctor would see more teeth when he did the extray so we could skip the root canal and crown and just pull it and let a new one come in lol the teeth thing, come from my dad. Mexican teeth. Very prolific lol My sister was born with 2 teeth on the top and 2 on the bottom! All 3 of her sons were born with teeth and my niece started growing teeth at 1 month old! lol

lots of floride treatments. They have covered my teeth with artificial enamel, they have a big fancy name for it. I have to continue to get this done every 3 years. I wasnt able to save my molars, so they all have expensive crowns on them.
let me tell you, I am a valued customer at the dentist office.

confused confused

hmmm Artifical enamel, you say? The enamel on my front teeth has worn off, too. (Due to eating a lot of citrus fruits.) I wonder if I could get this done...I bet it's expensive. I will ask when I go today.

yup, its the acid that got you....its like this protective coating for your teeth.
Yes, it is expensive

Well you can ask your dentist for laughing gas it makes you calm and you can ask for a Valium to take one hour before the visit. I only take Valium for like a root canal. The topical they rub on the gums gets you pretty numb BEFORE the injection.

The injection does not hurt if the dentist injects the novacaine really slow!!!! Girl it is only a filing not the end of the world.

Now my wisdom teeth i was put to sleep under general anesthesia for that one. Made my dr. payments too becasue insurance didn't cover everything!!!

I've been psyching myself out. I have survived near death with my recurring apendicitis and if I can weather that shit out, I can deal with a root canal smile

i fucking hate dentists.

they never filled the goddamned thing - they had me scheduled for a cleaning only rolleyes so now i have to go back for TWO appointments because they found more cavities than the one.

So they cleaned. More like dug. I saw NOTHING on those tiny pokers they used. Fuck, it was like the broad wanted to try out her whole collection of pokes and prods on my mouth.

All I can taste now is spearmint and blood.

Thanks for fuck all, Dr. Kelleman.

Honey you are not supposed to "see" anything in the pick. They are used to poked the enmale of the tooth and "feel" for soft spots which are the decay or cavity!!! You will be fine!!!! If the cavities are on the same side ask can you get them done all at once!!!!

hun they didnt even touch the cavity today
they were hunting for plaque and tartar.
there was nothing there

when i used to slack on my teeth i'd see something and not feel even half as much pain as i did today.

I'm sorry your appointment today didn't go as planned, sweet sammi. But at least your cleaning is over and done - that's something about which to be glad! And soon you'll your fillings will be done, as well. Hang in there. hug

Here are some dentist jokes to hopefully cheer you up, and make you show the world that (newly cleaned and twinkling) mouthful of stars*:

-----

Dentist: I have to pull the aching tooth, but don't worry it will take just five minutes.
Patient: And how much will it cost?
Dentist: It's $90.00.
Patient: $90.00 for just a few minutes work???
Dentist: I can extract it very slowly if you like.

-----

"I came in to make an appointment with the dentist." said the man to the receptionist.
"I'm sorry sir." she replied. "He's out right now, but..."
"Thank you," interrupted the obviously nervous prospective patient. "When will he be out again ?"

-----

Dentist begging the patient: Could you help me? Could you give out a few of your loudest, most painful screams?
Patient: Why? Doc, it isn't all that bad this time.
Dentist: There are so many people in the waiting room right now and I don't want to miss the 4 o'clock ball game.

-----

Patient: "It must be tough spending all day with your hands in someone's mouth."
Dentist: "I just think of it as having my hands in their wallet."

-----

A lady goes to the dentist. After she settles into the chair, the dentist notices a brown spot on one of her teeth and says "Aha, caries! I'll have to drill that."
"Oh no, I'd rather give birth than that!" cries the lady.
"In that case, let me adjust the chair first."

Sorry you didn't have a good appointment...I just got back from mine and my dentist fucking rocks! She totally fixed all the chips on the bottoms of my front teeth. They look amazing. mr.green

And amorbella--I didn't even ask about the artificial enamel, she "built up" the front of the teeth too, to make up for all the enamel I lost. I didn't even have to ask.

Probably no one will even notice, but I was really self-conscious about them (I am very obsessive about my teeth) so I am very happy with the results.

Whatever you do, don't watch Britain's Worst Teeth on BBC America. disbelief

Everybody who thinks single payer dentistry is a good idea should be forced to watch that.

I've had my wisdom teefers removed! All 4 of em!! They put me to sleep and off i went. Interesting experience. Woke up humming. Was testing my voice because of a concert i had in 10 days time. Made it ok for the concert! My surgeon was excellent! I'm the only person who likes the dentist. I think my worst experience was having plates when i was 10 and 11. I had to clean those damn things urgh AND sometimes the bottom plate's wire would cut into my gum...terrible pain and whenever the dentist tightened my plate i'd end up with a sinusy kind of headache the whole entire day. Memories! cloud9 ... lol

I can tell you why i like the dentist. I have had good memories. Mum would take off from work, i'd have to not go to school or it would be during the school holidays. We'd have to make a special trip out on the train and then afterwards we'd go to the city. That was a treat back then! Ahh the little things. Minty flavours mmm lol...

If there is anything i hate, it's the dentist.
I've had major dental work done in my mouth since i was at least 10.

Today is kind of routine, I have a cavity (or perhaps more) that doesn't hurt, but nevertheless, needs to be filled.

and i'm nervous.
it's one of those childhood things that stick with you.
i have no real reason to be afraid, but i get panic attacks right up to the moment of sitting in that blasted uncomfortable chair. confused

anyway - wish me luck, i hope they're not going to do anything major.

so yeah, dental work? yay? nay? what kind of stuff have you had done?

I am SO with you on this one. I had an orthodontist and a dentist totally mess up my two front teeth. I need to go back, but I've been postponing my dental cleaning since, like forever. They just make me mad
