maybe the reason i did that is simply because i mean what i said? it's what i like to refer to as my "opinion". biggrin

no doubt you mean what you said and yes, it's your opinion... clapping no need to address that to me as if I'm some idiot, thanks! I was merely trying to look at it from an artistic point of view. It is easy to bash out of personal opinion because you don't like one's work, it would be rather ignorant to disregard artistic talent just because you don't like it.....see what I mean?

i see what you mean and oddly enough, i still disagree with you. i respect your ability to appreciate something and really wish you had the capacity to do the same for my opinion, even if it does not fall into line with yours. neutral

Jackie Brown was better the second & third times I watched it, but it was self consciously "serious" and the point of view section was fairly pointless.

Actually, "Jackie Brown" is my favorite Tarantino film.

i thought it was self-indulgent bordering on self-parody. rosario dawson was my favorite thing about it, but i like her in anything. as for QT, he finally won favor with me when he did the kill bill movies, but when i saw 'death proof' i had to wonder if the KB flicks were just a monumental fluke. and he needs to knock it off with the "pop culture education corner" in his movies. i hate it when he starts preaching about a song or a band that he thinks is so cool and we should all think it's cool too. screw you. write an essay in maxim or something. quit using your movies to show us how cool you are. we're all really impressed, okay? now shut up already and make uma smack down lucy liu some more.

woot! I'm not alone! His ego is way too big for him which just gives me the shits. I get a vibe from all of his movies and when you see him in interviews that his all like "I'm a movie director, I don't have to talk to you. My movies will make more money than you will ever have. I'm a complete douche" lol
Receiving transmission from David Bowie's nipple antenna. Do you read me Lieutenant Bowie, I said do you read me...Lieutenant Bowie

I feel the same way about the man (remember after the Prince Beyonce performance). I can't stand him so much and enjoy him so much that I can't beleive he actually understands them, it might be an accident that he makes them.

I personally can't stand Woody Allen, yet I would never say that he's a worthless piece of shit since it is clear that he has made a substantial artistic contribution to filmmaking. Tarantino (again: I am NOT a particular QT-fan, for that his work is too inconsistent) surely has made, obviously to lesser extend than i.e. Woody Allen, a contribution as well.....

See what I'm getting at? It is not about me not respecting your opinion or you not respecting mine! Thank you! wink

again...

i AM a woody allen fan, and i have no problem saying that most of his recent comedies have been shit. for example, "hollywood ending" was one of the worst movies i've ever seen in my life. but i know that at his best, he is/was brilliant.

i'm NOT a QT fan, though you clearly overlooked the part of my rant where i said i really enjoyed the kill bill movies. i also liked natural born killers, which he had a part in creating. i never said i thought QT is a worthless piece of shit, and i'd appreciate it if you wouldn't misrepresent me or put words in my mouth. i do find him irritating and derivative. i'm not a fan. but i did not and would not say that he is "worthless".

we clear now? biggrin

Woody Allen is a little like Prince (Prince is a fan, too, I saw Prince at Shadows & Fog!) and suffers from the same problems. Both brilliant, both with multiple classics under their belt, they're capable of another masterpiece, but they both seem to crank stuff out in a way that a product can feel not fleshed out.
