I believe in marriage, I just don't believe people are capable of keeping the vows they make when they get married. And that's because the vows we're raised to make no longer make sense for the times we're living in. (Fairy tale, meet real life). So I say we go back to doin' it like the Pagans do, and get married a year at a time, then if they don't want another year, they split!

This is exactly true and loaning institutions know this. This is why we're easily targeted with commercials. Hell, I'm starting to see Halloween and Xmas advertising. eek
.

oh man all the "occasions" one must buy into shake
I didn't want a wedding, I wanted to elope, but in the end buckled under family pressure. BUT we managed to come out on top with a budget wedding, in our backyard, with BYO food falloff we made a profit would you believe it falloff

See you found a way to please everyone and yourself without spending a fortune.
Adults have choices and if they choice to get themselves into debt to keep up with the Jones', then that is their fault.
If they get into debt because they are struggling to meet the daily needs of a family, then they deserve help.
I do not buy into the whole "we have to have what everyone else has thing" if I cannot afford something, I do not buy it.

With so many people getting divorced these days is marriage important anymore. I mean take a look at Kurt russell and Goldie Hawn they have been together over 20 years and have never got married. I think the days of really long marriages are over like our parents and grand parents had in there days. Personally I dont think its a natural thing to be with the same person for so long you naturally are going to get bored. Although dont get me wrong I believe a family environment with a mother and father is the best thing for a child. It might just be the fact that are grand parents put far more effort into there marriages Oh I dont know what do you think???

I believe in marriage. If approached with maturity and respect, it is a wonderful thing. I do not believe in the tooth fairy, santa clause or the easter bunny. Really long marriages are not over. The conscious decision of two people to commit their lives to each other is unnatural? Thats a really sad outlook. Poeple need to stop getting married and quitting when the fuzzy feeling isn't as fuzzy and recognize marriage is work, requires effort and compromise. Not everyone can handle that though.
Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

I believe in marriage. I just don't believe the way it is "codify" within the federal laws of the USA.

Beside "codify" it as a union between one man & one woman, why not make it available for a man to have as many women, girlfriends, mistresses, & hoes that he damn well please (financially able of course) without getting punish in federal prison for it?!?

I believe in my marriage. fallinluv

It is bullshit that those who want to get married can't because of fools who believe marriage is only for straight people.

Marriage isn't what everyone wants and I understand and respect that, however everyone should have the right to marry if they so choose.
