It's been getting terrible reviews. I'm not sure. I loved the show, but then I read multiple accounts of how DD and Gillian never got along and that made it less enjoyable for me.
Roger Ebert said it was worse than "Step Brothers" - and he really disliked "Step Brothers." The Mpls paper gave it one and 1/2 stars. I just don't know... "She made me glad to be a man"

I think I'll go tomorrow.
I hadn't heard the bad buzz. I'm sure I'll enjoy it anyway. It's Mulder. And Scully. On screen together again. It can't be that bad.

i've only been seeing bad reviews for this. i was almost kinda sorta thinking of seeing it, though i'm a fair weathered x-files watcher and i'm kind of done with big blockbuster franchise movies for a minute or two, so i'll probably skip this one.

I watched it this morning. I can say if U were a fan of the TV show, go watch it. U won't b disappointed. If U've never seen the show before, stay away. U'll b confused and or bored out of your skull.
That having been said, I used 2 watch the show and enjoyed this movie. Listen to me on The House of Pop Culture podcast on itunes http://itunes.apple.com/u...d438631917

Thanks for the review, calldapp..... Ebert gave it 3 1/2 stars. I will be seeing it. I am a huge fan!
.....it is a little silly, but it's also a skillful thriller, giving us just enough cutaways to a sinister laboratory to keep us fascinated. What happens in this laboratory you will have to find out for yourself, but the solution may be more complex than you think if you only watch casually. Hint: Pay close attention to the hands.
What I appreciated about "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" was that it involved actual questions of morality, just as "The Dark Knight" does. It's not simply about good and evil but about choices. Come to think of it, Scully's dying child may be connected to the plot in another way, since it poses the question: Are any means justified to keep a dying person alive? The movie lacks a single explosion. It has firearms, but nobody is shot. The special effects would have been possible in the era of "Frankenstein." Lots of stunt people were used. I had the sensation of looking at real people in real spaces, not motion-capture in CGI spaces. There was a tangible quality to the film that made the suspense more effective because it involved the physical world. "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

I am going to watch it for sure. Maybe I can lure Lars up north to come see it with me when it hits Holland.

Saw it last night, and while it was enjoyable, I was rather underwhelmed. I won't reveal any major plot points, but remember how much "Moonlighting" sucked after David and Maddy finally slept together? There's a certain touch of that feeling here. And the supernatural/UFO factor is put on the back burner. Not a terrible movie at all — Gillian Anderson is always a pleasure to watch, and I love Duchovny (Applekisses once said I look like him ) ... but it just doesn't have that creepy "X-Files" feeling.

I doubled up today and saw two movies back to back. Dark Knight and the X-Files. Loved them both! I loved the "feel" of the X-Files. I loved the "Bush" moment. And did you see Gillian in the black bikini? "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack
