some stuff i don't want to know about. in some cases, ignorance is bliss. but i was like that when i was a kid and i was supposed to be "in the know" about all things related to pop culture, so it's hard for me to know now when i don't understand something because i'm still ignoring crap, or if it's because i'm getting senile and out of touch with the kids. it's probably both.

anyway, i still don't understand what hannah montana was supposed to be all about. i mean, i know it was a tv show and that she was a character and that it's billy ray cyrus' daughter, but i don't understand how a tv character and the actress who plays her can go out on tour as two different people, and why anything from the loins of billy ray cyrus could possibly be as popular as she seems to be.

Oh, I know one! I know NOTHING about alcoholic beverages, though I've wanted to learn for years! How do y'all drinkers remember all sorts of mixed drink combos enough to know what to order? There are just so many drinks out there! If I'm in the mood for a cocktail, I know only two drinks: a rum and Coke and an Amaretto sour.

I also know nothing about beers. It amazes me that people can tell you how the brewing process works, which countries produce the best brews, the difference between an ale and a lager, etc! And the same goes for wine-goers! That y'all can discuss the difference between grape species, harvest years, etc. is stunning!

I don't get Twitter (I think that's what it's called). Don't know how to do it.

I've never seen The Hills and don't want to. I don't know the premise behind it, like is it reality? Fake reality?

I don't get the thrill of saying "First!" when responding to posts.

I've never watched a podcast.

There's a lot more I'm out of the loop on, but those are the ones that sprang to mind immediately.

I love twitter. It's how most of close friends now communicate info to all at once. I also use it as my facebook update. It took me awhile to get into it, but it's definitely the online app/site that I use more than any other.

My best friend loves watching "The Hills" but I never got the whole appeal in the first place. I didn't even watch its predecessor, "Laguna Beach" when it was on. I don't really care about the daily lives of spoiled rich kids from Orange County, California.

You don't watch podcasts; you listen to them. It's basically like an audio blog, but a lot of radio programs are podcasting their shows so people who missed them on the radio or don't live in a a given radio market can download and listen to them. If you download a video to play on your iPod, then you are watching a vidcast.

I don't even have a cellphone. While I've considered getting one for the past few years, I don't talk to that many people in my life outside of work, and while it would be convenient to let people know where I am, I live alone, so I don't need to call anyone to let them know where I'm at. Plus there are a lot of times where I prefer my privacy and don't want to be reached by anyone except for emergencies.

I'm always one of the last ones to know about a trend

I still get yelled at by friends because I refuse to get text messages

X-Box/Wii/Playstations. I haven't had a computer purely to play games on since the Amiga. I don't really believe in spending a days wages or more on a game, especially one that can be completed and thus you will never go back to once you're done.
