lol Mon used to love a good brawl. I almost miss those days when she would completely unpredictably get pissed about something. Before I knew it she'd be jumping up and down on the bed with a clothes hanger in her hand and I'd be running for the door. falloff I think we need to work together to find a way to have a good scrap from time to time. smile

smile Good idea. It's not as much fun if she's lacking the very real conviction to cause me genuine harm though. She's totally mellowed out and now it's like looking in a mirror sometimes. That has its own sweetness to it though, I must say, as a contrast to fighting, but it was her completely irrational and uncontrollable emotional instability that in part drew me to her. falloff

That's totally understandable.

Where I grew up most of my friends were black, so more often than not I was the "other." Black hair was nothing strange to me and I spent many a morning after a sleepover at any one of my girlfriends' houses avoiding the hot comb heating up on the stove when I went to get myself some orange juice.

It's one thing if your white partner came up around all kinds of people; it's another if they're making their partner feel like a damn cultural ambassador. "What is this ashiness you speak of? It sounds so exotic!" hmm

I am saying I found it odd they felt the things they were mentioning were things they wouldn't want to explain to "outsiders". Sharing cultures and such is amazing. Here in Cali however, its more multi cultural.

Got that straight. It's not even a question in our damn lives out here. lol wink

So far, all of my LTRs have been 'interracial'. And one last co-sign on the hair comments. I can't do my own hair to save my life, but my first boyfriend had some tight cornrows for church thanks to me. That man had some tough tresses. The sides were practically straight but the top and back were so tight that I had to put a hot comb to them to be able to even braid them.

lol I hear ya.... I have to remember a lot of the US isn't on the same program... occasionally I think Cali is the representation of greater 50 and it ain't by any stance. ( even here the Watts riots were in the 60's right? So we have had our share) My Great Aunt was once one of those who arranged the march of Martin Luther King in San Bernardino.

Then there is the fact that I am greatly Scottish/Spanish with smatterings of other blood including black and American Indian... SO where am I to fit in in the guidelines? Then there are my children... who are my line as well as large amounts of Black/American Indian and French on there dads side.

I get wanting to be a part of your own culture in relationships that is just beautiful.... My son however prefers Asians and My daughter is in love with a Filipino/ white guy. I guess my clan is just the rainbow project and I have to remember it wasn't always so and in the South and such there is still grand division.

On the matter of hair, Big mama use to just fry Niecee on the scalp areas... So when I was at Ella Maes home I used to slip in the kitchen with my 20/10 vision and blow the iron a bit cool and do the edges for her.

Then there was Keith that corn rowed me so tight for extensions in the 80's that I blistered and he had to force feed me 3 tylenol before he started so he didn't have to listen to my ass. lol

There are many of us that do not fit into that one (or even two) race category so really we're dating out of our race all the time. lol

In Canada (Ontario especially) we all seem to be a mix of this or that and we also know a lot about each other's cultures as well. It just doesn't seem to be even remotely as segregated as it seems to be in the US. It's truly a multicultural world we live in here.

I very well hear you. You are so beautiful so the sharing of blood line is such a gift.

The history of Canada/ America ...North America is diverse and in many ways very equal. If I were in Nova scotia or Newfoundland.. ( the whole Labrador area ) I'd see it far different then I would in the Ontario/ Toronto "city" areas. I found Ottawa to be somewhat advanced as well and the Vancouver area also had a good mix of up with it/ vs are you kidding me?
The US also has its area if understanding/ are you kidding me features.
