Learn to take care of your kids' head!!!

I don't get it either. There are TONS of mixed kids in the suburb I live in and I also often see black kids with their adoptive white parents. The girls AND boys' heads be a HOT mess. disbelief Even as teenagers you can tell they've had no guidance on how to manage their "black" hair.

I don't know how close you were to your child's black relatives but I think it makes a huge difference. I think in many cases these non-black mothers are just intimidated by the hair and don't know where to start. But if there's black family around they'll sho nuf butt in like, "Come here, baby, let me fix yo haira." lol

Then I'd get white parents with white children asking me to cornrow their kids' hair. Yeah, I drew the line with that. I hurt some feelings, I know, but so be it. evillol

lol But most non-black folks don't know what the hell a kitchen is other than where you prepare food. It's stuff like that which I don't even wanna get into with a potential significant other. That's totally understandable.

Where I grew up most of my friends were black, so more often than not I was the "other." Black hair was nothing strange to me and I spent many a morning after a sleepover at any one of my girlfriends' houses avoiding the hot comb heating up on the stove when I went to get myself some orange juice.

It's one thing if your white partner came up around all kinds of people; it's another if they're making their partner feel like a damn cultural ambassador. "What is this ashiness you speak of? It sounds so exotic!" hmm

That wouldn't even be hypersensitivity! It's not fucking cool to throw around slavery images like it's fucking fashion. And it's not a black person's job to educate every ignorant white person, either. This is why I totally understand some people of color's aversion to dating white people. It's not racism, it's a desire to have a relationship instead of having to be someone's hand-holding teacher.
