Walter Moseley is great. Love his work. Janet Evanovich is good. I like her stuff if I'm in the mood. She's funny, but I'm not always interested in it. James Patterson I'm not a fan of at all. I've never read John Sandford. Do you recommend him?

Moseley is my favorite author. My dad was given a lot of his books by a friend and I pretty much stole them and read every one cover to cover. I could not stop. There was something so cool, mellow and almost blue-light about his writing that just made me want to have a smoke and a drink afterwards. I think I remember reading something of Janet's but not sure. It could just be that her name is familiar.

He's an amazingly fluid, clever writer. He makes it look easy. I made the mistake of trying to read Toni Morrison's "Paradise" after finishing Moseley's "Blond Faith." disbelief Like night and day, in terms of story pace.

I enjoy some literature but I've never been able to grasp Toni Morrison's voice. My mom loved her books so I used to tell her to read them and let me know what the heck she's talking about. lol

Some of her earlier work I really like, but "Paradise" was a chore -- and I'm a writer. I've edited writing. lol And, I just couldn't get used to her writing. She wrote that so circuitously, it was hard to appreciate the characters... the many, many characters... disbelief

Paradise was incredibly tough. I couldn't muster the energy to want to break through it. But it was nothing like Beloved and The Bluest Eye, two of my favorite novels ever. I would tell someone new to Morrison to definitely skip Paradise and go for either of those other two, preferrably Beloved.

I love toni's writing, I didn't get it until I saw her on Oprah talking about beloved and paradise and she explained why she wrote like she did. I find that she chanllenges me to read more thoroughly. I flip back and forth alot with her books.

I have read most of James Patterson's books, I am disappointed these days because he is doing all this collaboration work. I tend to not like those as much as his pure voice.

I am a HUGE Ann Rice fan, I need to pick up her new one.

I just read this:

it made me want to find more by him.

Haven't read all of Walter's stuff, I need to get on that.

I'm an avid reader, but none of these authors have ever interested me.

I think James Patterson is a bad as Danielle Steel. Not a fan of his at all. Pulp fiction.

Yeah I've read Walter Mosley, and he was decent. He actually had style, and the stories were good.

Patterson, I've read one thing and it was pretty anonymous. Could have been any of a thousand writers.
