Fall/Winter 08/09: Flat Shoes, High & Ankle Boots

.

Valentino

Margaret Howell

Jasper Conran

Alexander McQueen

-

Stella McCartney

Fendi

Calvin Klein

from Vogue:

Flat Shoes

The big news in shoes? Flats - now acceptable for night and day

Jewelled slippers replace towering heels as the new statement shoes

Brogues are the perfect fit with autumn's mannish pegged trousers

High Boots

Knee-high or over-the-knee styles are best paired with mini lengths

Long boots will take lightweight dresses into winter

Soft suede styles in the palest of hues are the feminine choice

Ankle Boots

Decorative designs score fashion points: Chloé's leaf appliqué design is autumn's big hit

Grey leather boots make a cool alternative to black

I'm sorry. I have to say it. I HATE FLATS ON WOMEN. I know, I know, high heels can be uncomfortable and painful.....I still hate flats on women.

2 cents.

Stellas shoes are pretty great.

THAT'S WHAT IT IS!! I could never figure out why I don't like flats. People look Dumpy in them. Thank you.

Of course I'm generalizing. Some people can wear just about anything.

nod When you wear high heels it lengthens your whole leg, from your ankle, calves, thighs, and booty which makes you stand up straighter and gives you a slimmer appearance and more attractive walk. I feel lifted in heels and I'm not talking about in height rather my whole body. Not to mention the psychological lift I get. In flats, I feel like my body settles downward and when I walk it gives me a flat-footed, dumpy gait. And actually completely flat shoes are bad for your feet. 4-inch heels are no better but a shoe with something of a heel is best. twocents

You have to be very careful what you wear with flats because - yes - you run the risk of looking dumpy.

I can't believe they're talking about pegged pants again. And with flats, no less. Just what every woman is clamoring for - a style that makes her ass look bigger. rolleyes
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

flats definitely don't work on fat feet. Black ones especially remind me of porky pig hooves.

lol Yes, you do honey. And they work with your outfit. I was moreso talking about if you're going out at night and you have on a hot lil dress or something. Heels just set off a "going out" type outfit more IMO. shrug

lol comfort I know that's the hard part. Not everyone can do it. I took to it like a duck to water but it can be learned. Just takes practice. And there ain't nothing worse than a girl who's not comfortable in heels wearing them. disbelief

the flats above look well. its when people mix them with contrasting hose on their legs or exposed skin that looks awful.

on the note of frankenstein shoes, there is this lady i see once in a while and she has a pear shaped body. she was wearing tight brown colored jeans with some black frankenstein shoes. it was soo bad I desperately wanted to relieve her of her embarrassment by telling her to throw out the shoes at the very least. somehow they made her seem even shorter than she already is. anyone had who looked at her would have to notice how bad her fashion sense is. it really grates my nerves- those shoes
