Mom's, I have a question.

I guess the question is more for mom's that planned their pregnancies.
How exactly did you prepare yourself? Physically, mentally, emotionally?

I know ppl that have planned it and all they talk about is the getting pregnant part but nothing about preparing for it.
It is such a huge thing, major change.
Shouldn't one prepare first?

I mean we prepare ourselves for other things in life like running marathons, going on vacation, moving.....

I would think that one needs to prepare for such a life changing event.

Any suggestions or comments?

I am just curious???? A friend of ours is scheduling getting pregnant around a family wedding. That seems to be her only concern in the matter.

I guess I over think the whole thing and that is why I am the age I am without a child.

I am not sure that I could ever be fully prepared mentally, physically and emotionally
I guess no one really is when they have them???

I guess I should have posted this when the "moms" were online.

No smoking. No beer. No dangerous biking. No diving. No racing. No flying.

Listening to new age albums. Taking long walks. Oh, and there is this sex thing involved, I heard. Ewwwww.

Well, as soon as the kid's here, you'l drop offline anyways, so having Phil here or not doesn't matter.

once you find out you are pregnant, you have about 7-8 months to prepare yourself mentally. That is enough time. Before that it doesn't seem real, so whatever you were thinking isn't kind of serious yet.
My mum is always telling me off for not planning better rolleyes Wally was born 23rd Dec, which upsets her Christmas plans I suppose.

See I do not understand that?? The whole planning around holidays and events. I think it should happen when it is meant to happen not around things that could inconvenience us.
I guess because of my age I worry about health issues.

It depends on what u mean by planning. If someone is planning on getting pregnant around a certain date they are moe than likely to fall flat on their faces lol
As far as prepearing ureself mentally...well, for a first time parent there can be no real preperation for that I guess...but u can do some reading lol
Alot of women I know start by eating healthier and taking things like pre pregnancy vitamis and doing certain stretches and things to prepare their bodies.
Personally I never really did any of that..my first one wasnt planned anyway lol My other two were planned but about the only preperation I did was to have lots of sex and take an iron supplement (I don't eat red meat)

These days I paln NOT to have any more lol

I have spent my whole life planning not to get pregnant.
My old coworker planned hers so she would not be really pregnant in the summer. She picked a month that she wanted it to be born then booked vacation 9 months before that and it all worked out as planned.
She got lucky for her first time trying.

took me a year first time around, I was very disappointed each month it didn't happen. All the planning or whatever ended up out the window, and we basically tried to forget we were trying and just got on with our lives.

Zombie we had the same problem with my second (hubbys first) It took longer thatn expected...so for the youngest we decided to start while our daughter was 9 months old, thinking it might take a year again falloff more fool us
As a result the younger two arent very far apart in age lol

I would never want it to consume us and be the only reason we were having sex.

Interesting this came up - I just had a discussion with several other Mom's on this lol

Overall they agree ...

You can try to be prepared as best you can mentally, physically, and the many other ways most of us do.

There is no way to be 100% prepared for the experience - it's a work in progress and there are so many many different things that can and do happen.

You really can't prepare - unless you've got some really bad habits that are affecting your health. I don't think you do, so don't overthink it. I think that's a mistake many new parents are making these days. It's something your body does naturally, and as far as mental preparation? That's like trying to mentally prepare yourself for a visit to an alien planet you've never seen. lol

I guess you are right. Luckily I do not drink but a glass of red one here and there and I do not smoke.
I try to eat good but I know there is some things I can do to improve that. I have taken a B complex for a while now that has folic acid in it.
