The whole thing is just a disgrace. They should be forced to abide by guidelines cause quite frankly I'm sick of finding tiny little hooker outfits around my 8 yr old cousin's home then wondering what effect this must be having on her self image and self esteem. I was glad to see she'd thrown a majority of her Bratz out last week.
Check these out : These are Bratz BABIES, so they're aimed at even YOUNGER children. Can you say "high end hookers"? I go to the Bratz official site and while it's loading the page says "Please wait - it takes long to look THIS good!" The one saving grace about Barbie is she had careers - the Bratz are just Paris Hilton's of doll world. And now it seems poor Barbie is joining them on the street corner.

I agree with you that Barbie is way less sexually charged than those dumbass Bratz dolls. But the key difference here is that Collector Barbies are not meant for children, Bratzs are. It's not actually comparable. Black Canary Barbie is not meant for 8 year olds, so any parent that's dumb enough to buy her for an 8 year old has no one to blame but themselves. I know this kid was probably one in a million, but I read an article about a 9 year old boy so afraid of being fat he nearly starved himself in the accompanying photos, he was VERY thin. His parents didn't know what to do. Luckily he did get help was back to normal, but how scary is that My guys talk about being fat as something really bad. I know they indoctrinate them about eating healthy at school, which I am very happy about, but today at my son's party, I overheard a couple of kids tell each other the food at the party were all BAD food - it's a PARTY for goodness sakes!

My 8 year old niece who is extremely, extremely thin told recently that she hated her calves and thighs because they were 'too fat'. She told me that her legs were 'hideous tree trunks' and that she wanted blonde hair because her brown hair was ugly. It's not a fear of being fat that is scary. It's a delusional view and a constant critique of themselves that is concerning.

Black Canary is a CHARACTER. This is not Barbie in fishnets, she is dressed as a character. Barbie as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz didn't get in any trouble for looking like a drag queen.
