As a kid growing up in the 70s I remember some obscure movies that personally scared me. I think they were all TV movies:

The Mad Room- starring Stella Stevens & Shelly Winters
The Stranger Within-starring Barbara Eden
Don't Be Afraid of The Dark

I'd love to watch these again, but I don't think they're released on DVD yet.

Nosferatu scared the shit outta me when I was a kid. After seeing it...or some of it, I could only fall asleep with my head under the covers. I still sleep that way when I am alone today. lol

I didn't see the Excorcist until I was 19 and in college, but I STILL wasn't ready for it! My stupid ass made the mistake of watching it with folks I didn't know very well in the common rec room of our dorm...man, was it a scary walk alone back to my apartment on the third floor. The halls were empty and my flat-mates had gone out of town for the weekend. We had a pay phone in the hall that was always ringing, I was too chicken to go out and answer it after 1am...it was too desolate and I was scared of the stairwells at either end of the hallway boxed

lol

the most recent movie i saw that creeped the living hell out of me was david lynch's "inland empire". there are a couple of images in that film that are so bizarre and nightmarish, i remember staying up all night after the first time i saw the movie in the theater because i'd keep getting mental images of those scenes and i'd get a case of the creeps.

I remember seeing another film but I dont have a clue what it was called where an old woman is hacking a younger woman up with a machete in a cave, I think. Shes actually talking to the younger woman while shes doing it the younger womans obviously screeming her head off and the older womans saying Im sorry but I have to do this. I think it was some sort of pyscho mum who didnt like her going out with her son.

Please tell me the name of the film if you know.

Well, when I was a kid, Dawn of The Dead (1979) scared me so bad that I couldn't talk. When my mother came to pick us up, I was stone quiet all the way home. So my mother knew something was wrong cuz I was always talking. She asked me what was the matter. I told her that we had snuck in to see Dawn of the Dead. Myself and two friends were supposed to see some other film but we strolled over to the theatre that was showing Dawn of The Dead. The place was packed. When I went to bed, I was literally hollering in my sleep. I was scared to death, dreaming about it. My mother had to come in my room a few times to wake me up. I love horror films...It's my favorite genre of film but till this day, I have never been that scared from a movie in my life.

I haven't seen a decent western horror movie in years. Asian cinema all the way. And it doesn't have to be a bloodfest like 'Ichi The Killer' - I found 'Audition' to be scarier (and a much better movie).

The shinning because of the bathroom scene whit the ugly woman, and Ringu because of the scene when sadako comes out from the TV.
Also, i get anxiety when brundle is fully transformed to in The fly(1986), the ugliest monster ive seen in a movie.
