Once a friend and I were in a movie - I can't even remember what it was, but it was a slow-moving, dialogue-driven indie film - and there was only one other couple in the place. The were sitting in the row behind us at the aisle, we were in the center. The woman would not shut up. Super dramatic scenes and all, she was talking loud enough for us to hear every word she was saying. I finally got up, walked into her row and sat down next to her. She looked at me all pissed off, I asked her nicely to stop talking. She couldn't believe I'd have the audacity to request this of her and now said I was ruining the movie for her. I said, well, at least it's runied for all of us now and walked back to my seat.
She kept her mouth shut for the rest of it.

This one time me and my girl were watching this dialogue based indie-film. She kept asking me questions throughout the film, as quietly as she could, but loud enough so that I could hear her (I sometimes have trouble hearing).
About halfway through the film some really mean girl walks over and sits right beside my sweet sweet Petunia, and has the audacity to tell her to shut up. My girl explained to her that the mean girl who interrupted us was ruining our movie, and the mean girl said something to the affect that "well, that makes both of us" or something like that and walked over to the other side. It was a tiny private conversation between just the two of us!!!
My poor girl was so distraught she couldn't speak the rest of the night and silently cried to herself. It was her birthday.

I went to see Kung Fu Panda last week on Friday and people, not just kids, but grown ups with kids, talked all the time. Why pay £8 to take your 5 year old to a half 8 showing of a film, then not watch it??

I'd talk my way through some stupid shite like 'Kung Fu Panda'.

well I'm seeing Wall-E tomorrow, I shall have to bring some biggrin

Considering that there is hardly any dialogue, that might be your best bet. Though it's not like they'll be talking over anything.

This type of thing pisses me off to no end. I didn't come to a movie to hear people talk on their cell phones, listen to them chat with their friends, or have them tell the theater their opinions on the storyline.

My husband and I went to, like, five movies in a row during which someone in the audience would audibly say something like, "I bet the friend killed her" or "I bet it's all gonna be a dream." That's really great that you're a psychic or a movie detective or whatever - but puh-leaze! - keep your thoughts to yourself.

I also hate it when someone has seen the movie before and keeps saying things like, "Watch - this part is really funny!"

Oh, and when I saw "The Strangers," the girl next to me kept pointing at the screen, saying stuff like, "Oh my gosh - I totally have the same dress as Liv Tyler!" or "That's Jamie's exact cell phone, I swear to God!" Really? Maybe you should call Jamie. From the lobby. And tell her this earth-shattering revelation so that the rest of us who just spent ten damn dollars can hear the movie and not you!!

People were really quiet at the "Dark Knight" preview. And that was free. Go figure.

Oh, when my husband and I went to see "21 Grams," there were two elderly women in front of us. During Naomi Watts' topless scene, one of women said to the other - in a really loud voice - "Well! I've never seen such nipples!! Have you, Gladys?" That was pretty funny.

it is never ok.
your right though the parents are worse than the kids.
all cinemas should have those mobile phone blockers too. even if they don't ring the light from them when someone checks their messages is annoying.

I went to Don't mess with the Zohan, there were this family sitting behind my friends and I. Well their 4 year old son kept messing with the back of my seat and singing. I finally turned around and said," If you don't do something about your kid I will." They gave me a dirty look and made their son sit down. People around me clapped lol
It isn't the load that breaks us down, it's the way we carry it.
