The amount the manufacturer recommends you use...it's a scam, isn't it? Yes, at least that's what the repair man told me recently. my mother always told me that it was a scam, too. the problem i have with liquid detergent is that i have a heavy hand, especially with the larger bottles, and i always end up pouring in too much, it overflows out of the measuring cup, and gets all over my hand. Then I have to pour some back and the end result is just a mess. Maybe I need a maid.

If you have an HE machine, you want to make sure you use HE detergent, too. The formulation is totally different, because the amount of water those machines use is so low. Regular detergent will not rinse clean in an HE machine because they count on the clothes being fully immersed and beaten by an agitator - which, of course, doesn't happen in an HE machine. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

all i ever use is liquid. i use the stuff with no scents or dyes. i hate powdered detergent. it clumps up and sometimes leaves globs of soapy goo on the laundry. i didn't know anyone still used powdered detergent unless they were in a laundromat and desperate.

I only use liquid. That's what my mom told me to use once I moved out and started doing my own laundry. I didn't learn how to do laundry until I was almost 19 years old. I tried using powder detergent just for shits and giggles. It left a bunch of white shit on my clothes so I gave the rest of it to my friend and never used it again. Shake it til ya make it

That happened to me too once or twice when I used powder detergent. I've only used liquid detergent since, and have always been happy with the results. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

That is what made me switch to liquid. Powder made such a horrible mess. It made my pants look dusty. MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! I was thinking the exact same thing. Now that I think about it, maybe it's a brand issue. Way back when I used shit like Tide - the grains are bigger, & I'd swish the powder around in the water to make sure it didn't clump. But I switched to Arm & Hammer years ago & have never had clumps or white stuff. It's really fine grain & distributes well...

You will never go back to the powder, liquids are so much easier and less messy!

while i am primarily a liquid Tide kind of guy, I do ocasionally dabble in classic Tide powder. Love that scent.
Move forward with liquid, free of fear. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

I have one of those pimp ass Kenmore Elite systems so powder works just as well as liquid. But on cheaper ones, liqueid seems to be nicer. Use SEVENTH GENERATION liquid detergent--it's free of phosphates , and all those other wierd ass chemicals they put in your wash to artificially "brighten" your clothes. Well, if on whites, I guess it's ok to use Tide. i use seventh gen too, the lavender eucalyptus im finding the powder is a bitch when i use it, sometimes i use oxy powder instead of bleach, and it always seems to end up all over the floor. And its not fun to clean up.
