I've always been a strong beleiver that Internet social/networking pages are great ways to discover friendships. I don't doubt they're also ...erm.. interesting ways of finding dates/sex too.
At one time I didn't really think of the .org as being anywher in that category, but like G0D's thread seems to elude to, it obviously is to some degree.

I've made some great friends on here, and even though I don't see them day to day (even the ones that live in Tampa ), I do genuinely care for them.

On myspace and facebook, I've actually met people with similar interests to mine in Tampa, whome I probably never would have met otherwise. (Let's face it, the bar scene is uber difficult in helping you determine who likes to kayak ).


Have you used any 'non traditional' methods of socializing before? did it work out for you? Would you? What are the drawbacks? benefits?



Egneral Discussion, here on Prince.org is unlike any other that I've seen on any message board for fanboard ... like, anywhere. The friendships here seem strangely intense, especially when some of the friends have never actually seen each other. I know from my point of view, Muse and I were deeply close friends before I nestled myself into her heaving bosom in real life.

I've actually met several people through a local club scene/dj site. Common interests brought us together and since it was local it was very easy to meet up, especially since we were frequenting the same places.
