I am jealous of most every woman on this thread. I never knew people could just use tampons alone.

I didn't realize that either. Even when my flow starts to lighten up, if I choose to wear a tampon there's gonna be a panty liner involved. There's always at least a spot of blood that escapes (with me), I don't wanna fuck up my drawz...
I have a medical condition which makes either impossible for me. I always wondered why people were talking about swimming or wearing white pants with a tampon. lol

I've been using tampons since I was about 16-ish. I'll never use a pad again, it used to feel like I had a freaking cotton gin between my legs when I did shake

As far as how often they should be changed, just plan on changing it whenever you use the bathroom anyways and you should be fine. That's what I do and I've seldom had "incidents".

Yup, I use pantyliners as well. In fact, my period is weird. It's super heavy for 2-3 days and then I have to use panty liners alone for the next 3-4 days, as it's not heavy enough for a tampon but there's always a few drops each day. It's annoying as all get out. confused

Girl please - no white pants, no immersion in water... none of that for me when I'm on lol I don't understand how some people take baths on their periods - I do not wanna bathe in my own menstrual blood! shake

I love tampons. Wearing a pad is like walking around with a hot slice of pizza in my underwear. It feels icky to me. Plus tampons are easier to carry with you. Not only that but they come in handy in other areas too. My friend accidentally spilled pop in her shoe while on a road trip. She whipped out a tamp, stuck it in her shoe and it absorbed every last drop.

falloff It's true!

I use both, though. I think the tamps are fabulous! You can't feel them at all and they give you the freedom to go swimming and ride horses!

did you know that only about 1/3 of a cup of blood comes out over the course of a period? If you wear a tampon, no blood comes gushing out, and even if it did, why is that grosser than all the sweat off your body for example?
gosh I couldn't care less! lol

I use a panty liner ( like those ) leaving the backing on and drop essential oils on them and slip them into my dresser drawers to make my clothes smell pretty

Ugh, I could never wear pads....sitting in blood does not make this girl happy. Tampons are great, change them when you're supposed to and everything will be just fine. Unless, of course, you have some kind of medical condition where you can't...but other than that ditch those stinky pads. barf

This thread grosses me out and is fascinating at the same time. lol

Since I have polycystic ovary syndrome, I have very heavy bleeding which can last up to three weeks and even with tampons, blood still gushes. A 1/3 cup I freakin' wish. lol

Wow, it's very obvious to me that I do everything that is recommended NOT to do with many, many things. lol

Whatever, I sleep with one in, I swim, I wear white, I don't use panty liners (haven't needed to). I really don't change a thing when I have my period - except use tampons and pop some advil on the first day.

no i'm not.

i used to think that it wasn't that bad until i started wearing tampons exclusively. then i realized that no matter how light your flow is, when you wear a pad you're spending the day in your own blood and sweat. it doesn't matter how many times you change it.

Yup, pads are gross.

Co sign.

I can't believe I ever used pads exclusively.
Though sometimes I have to use a tampon AND pad...but its not NEARLY as gross...

I started out using pads (at age 12, when I first got my period). I started using tampons when I was somewhere in my 20's, and never looked back. I could never wear a pad now, they feel like a diaper, and make my butt itchy. lol Tampons are a wonderful thing, and I recommend them to anybody.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

falloff I think me & Stymie were saying that we just wouldn't risk it (wearing white, swimming) but of course it can & should be done for those who can get away with it biggrin I just never could, my flow is too heavy & I'd be freaked out about leaking smile
