Haggis is one of those foods that appeared back in the day because peasants couldn't afford or weren't allowed access to the edible cuts of meat so had to make do or starve. That I understand. If I were starving, I'd probably tuck into a plate of it gladly. But there's no such excuse for eating it today. Just because something is tradition does not mean it's actually good. It most likely was born out of necessity, but it remains popular today because it's damn tasty. Don't dismiss it as merely "a tradition". And you'll probably find there is as much "meat" in haggis as there is in some sausages, burgers, hot dogs, nuggets, etc. At least the haggis is upfront about what it is. And I must ask, have you tried it? | |
