I used to like to touch the hands of mannequins as I walked by when I was little. I remember walking through Montgomery Wards (where they had mannequin displays on every corner) when I was about 4 years old, tapping on each hand as I walked by. The last hand I touched felt fleshy. It was a real person! I just about jumped out of my skin!

I once said to a friend of mine who wanted a mutual friend's phone number "Why don't you call her up and ask what her phone number is?"...

neutral

A friend in college introduced me to a blind girl that had just started attending classes. The blind girl said "hello"...and I waved back.

I once typed "bling" instead of "blind"... neutral

I once went to see two gangster movies (double session :once upon a time in America and another one)
It took me at least 15 minutes to realize Barbra Streisand wasn't supposed to be there, that it wasn't a trailer and that I had gone to the wrong theatre doh!

redface I mean, who doesn't look up when they're buying the tickets? redface

I also entered a shop to buy a portable casette player and they told me they didn't sell those in fishing shops redface

Well a deaf friend of mine would always pretend to not hear "What? What? What?" she was saying and laughing.
I forgot she was deaf, and I said, "Are you deaf or what?".
The silence after that was deafening.

I applied to graduate school at Columbia University without realizing it was an Ivy League school. lol If I would have known that I would have never applied, because I thought there was no way I'd be accepted.

Yes, I was accepted; to this day I still don't understand why/how. (I applied to NYU also, but didn't get in so I thought for sure I wouldn't get into Columbia. shrug) I was so intimidated by the other people in my program--they were/are so unbelievably smart and had a much better understanding of the theory we had to read. I felt like such a poser half the time. At the end of the day, the diploma is just a really, really expensive piece of paper (which I'll be paying off for the next 30 years!), it doesn't necessary equal intelligence, imo. shrug
