But I just don't know why anyone would want to look like some of those sickly-looking freakishly thin models. At least 50% of the blame should go to men lol ...give your average American male a choice between two women who are identical in personality, facial features and intelligence, but one is overweight and one is underweight, the underweight one will probably be picked more times than not. Women know this, they see it...they're not stupid. So they start thinking their weight is a hindrance. Add onto that the message sent out constantly by the media (like you said) that "Life will be better if you are thinner!", and it's no real surprise, unfortunately. That's one of the reasons, anyway. In fact, I've found most women will NEVER believe that I really don't care about things like weight or height or whatever, even if I'm not talking about THEM lol...they just refuse to believe a man can be more attracted to a woman's personality, character, sense of humor, etc. than to her body. Sad but true. You're absolutely right about this cuz I got approached by men more after I'd gained a bunch of weight, and I found it hard to believe when they gave me compliments. I was like Yeah, right. It's a trip how body image can really mess us up.

our body shapes are changing people!
I read an article that says hourglass figures are disappearing and in place we are getting a more tubular figure with bigger boobs instead Scientists say this is evolution, and our bodies are adapting to a high carb diet - in a few decades, carbs WON'T make us fat

I was in Addition Elle (a plus-sized chain, if you're not familiar)today helping my sister shop. All the mannequins and models in the photos on the walls looked not much bigger than me, and I'm a 2. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

My favorite scene in Steel Magnolias is when Dolly Parton and Olympia Dukakis are watching the mayor's wife shake her ass on the dance floor and Olympia says it looks like two pigs fightin' under a blanket. Then Dolly says she hasn't left the house without lycra on her thighs since she was 13. Maybe it's a cultural thing but I grew up being told that if you're dressed up you should wear at least a slip but usually a girdle. I haven't worn slips in ages but I don't like to jiggleor have rolls under my clothes so I usually wear some kind of foundation garment, even when I was at my smallest. When they stopped making my favorite ones years ago I bought every one I could find regardless of size. Not me, I LOVE to jiggle! Being only 4'11'', my size 2 translates into a fair amount of curve. Which is neat, because most skinny girls have a very, um, ruler-like physique. I've been known to dress deliberately to emphasize Tha Jiggles. Tits, ass, even my belly. I love the way my me moves. So unfair to call a person who is attracted to certain looks 'shallow'. We all want to be with people we find physically attractive and there is nothing wrong with that...at all. It just seems that many people have the attitude that if a person isn't into the way they look...they are just "shallow". Is a guy that is only into women who are larger "shallow" because he doesn't find thin women attractive? Cuz all I ever seem to see is men who are into thin women being called 'shallow' not the other way around. Works both ways.

Wasn't Marilyn Monroe a size 10-12 during her career? My, how things have changed. Marilyn wasn't anywhere near the size of the girls in this thread. I never understand why she's brought up in subjects like these. There were some points in her life where she ballooned a bit but for the most part she was the same size as the celebrities of today, they just weren't toned back then which gives the appearance of being a bit curvier.

Cuz all I ever seem to see is men who are into thin women being called 'shallow' not the other way around. Works both ways. Thanks, Erin. I've basically avoided commenting on this because of how similar threads that i've posted on ended up turning out. But that would be my point exactly. A guy that's considered a "chubby chaser" isn't shallow when he finds all thin women unattractive but a guy that isn't into big girls is. Not exactly fair, is it? People are into what they're into. But again, and i'm sure this is going to get taken the wrong way, the United States really isn't doing anyone any favors by this attitude of "being obese is okay". It's NOT. Just this week we saw where the FDA is ready to start prescribing cholesterol drugs to children as young as TWO YEARS OLD because we can't control what we feed our kids. There's a whole generation of obese people now because we as Americans eat crap, don't exercise and don't want anybody to call us out on our shit. FAT IS UNHEALTHY, PERIOD. AND WILL CAUSE YOU TO DIE SOONER. We need to stop this American ass attitude of "well we don't want to offend anyone". EVERYONE IS NOT GOING TO GET PAID TO BE ON A REALITY SHOW TO LOOSE WEIGHT. There's nothing cool about being overweight. There's nothing healthy about "jiggling". It's not offensive, it's unhealthy. It's an epidemic. And we need to start taking it SERIOUSLY. http://www.facebook.com/p...111?ref=ts

But comments like that make it out to be that sooo many men are like that. That's totally not the case at all. I look around and see tons of dudes with women that are not that typical hot model type...in fact most men are not. So clearly cases of men only being into a woman for their hot looks are not as common as people always claim it is.

Thanks, doctor. When you review my medical records and those of many here who are "plus size" and healthy I'll credit that statement with more validity. It's just a fact that being overweight does not automatically equal being unhealthy. It's an unhealthy lifestyle that leads to being unhealthy. One does not automatically equal another. It's clear that YOU prefer being very thin and that's fine - but don't chastize others for being unhealthy unless you know the facts of their particular situation. I guarantee that my doctor would disagree with you. Now...back to the beauty...
