Congrats bluesy.
Though the thought being a grandmother at 39 (next month) scares the hell outta me.

My friend's kids call their grandmother "Namma". It's started out as "grandma" but her first kid couldn't pronounce it and it came out "Namma". It just stuck. I think it's cute. I know someone else who goes by Na-Na, pronounced Naw-naw. Shake it til ya make it

My mom isn't as young as you, but my kids call her Grammy.
I think you should just pick something you like and that you'll like to be called.

My sister is a grandmother at that age and I call her ass granny!
Fuck her! She'd better get used to it too.... she has a boyfriend now and refuses to tell him about her daughter or grandbaby.... she shouldn't let shame allow her to lie. She should be happy to have such a beautiful grandbaby that loves her so. Never be ashamed to be what you are.... redefine "grandma" if it makes you uncomfortable. Grandmothers these days can be fine too.

BLUES
what about gammy? that's what my kids call my mom. or Mima (mee-maw) or bubee or buela what about Mimmi or Momee which is what we called our paternal grandmother grammy, madear, gram (with a french accent). or you can wait and let the child decide, my oldest had foster grandparents at the daycare she went to so they were all grandma, she named my mom gammy because she is special. all of my mother's grands call her something different. We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

Even if you're 39, you're still grandma or gramie.

I've heard some people call their grandma "Nanna". Just a suggestion, not sure if it's been mentioned already. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Wait, no. That sounds kind of inbred. Scratch that. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
